Landies are worth tidy money - so I think my novice woeful fabbing & welding would be some sort of sacrilege.

no , trust me ,, lots of the welding I see on land rovers would meet that spec ,, I remember a disco that had been restored ,,, the rear floor repair sections were all plug welded in ,,, I tore them out by hand and the welds all pulled out with a noise like stepping on bubble wrap ,,, it would have been very funny if the guy hadnt paid as much money for the job ,,,Landies are worth tidy money - so I think my novice woeful fabbing & welding would be some sort of sacrilege.
Whereas everyone sees the LDV as a Fugly outdated Heap - so glueing it together in a haphazard manner is somehow OK
Really, the LDV is a perfect apprentice piece
With all the practice though, maybe one day my welding will be acceptable enough for more exotic transportation
If honest I suspect some of my early efforts with my gasless Clarke resemble your description.
