Baffels are often bothways. But fore and aft is most important as reduces whats called free surface effect. Which is 5he rolling moment caused by the liquid surface moving. Think Herald of Free Enterprise.

I missed being on the Herald by 1/2 hour due to a puncture in my truck! sailed past it laying on it's side for a year or so going in and out of Zebrugger...... and yes the crew were permanently ******, the drivers bunks were right down in the bottom of the hull, several flights of stairs to get in or out!

The broker sells the survey to the prospective buyer so I will get paid for it

It used to be that a survey was of limited value to anyone other than person that paid the surveyor as the surveyor's liability was to that person only. So if the survey says everything is OK, but it turns out not, there's no come-back on the surveyor for anyone other than the person that commissioned it. Unless the boat buying process has changed, I'm not sure an 'owner's survey' it's worth much.

I think it is still the same, the contract is betwwen the surveyor and the person who commissioned them.

Yesterday I gave the tank one final clean and put 75l of new red in. Just enough to cover the pick ups which seems crazy. The marina only offers 1 price for fuel and that's 1.95 a liter so I won't be using them. I can buy it for less than a quid elsewhere

Then bolted the lid back on the tank, changed all the filters, bled the system and the engines fired right up.

If it does not sell and you keep it for any length of time, marine16 additive ie very good for keeping the bug at bay.

Bit of an emotional weekend as we emptied the boat and handed her over to the sales people and it's now on their pontoons.

I didn't quite realise how emotionally attached I am to the boat. Not surprising really considering its a link to my parents and part of my life for 31 years.

They have insisted on a survey so I have to arrange that.

Back out of the water ready for a full survey next week.

I'll clean the props, new anodes and give her some new antifoul. Few touch ups needed in a few areas bit all looking good. Can't even see the repair I did on the Hull so I'm chuffed with that.

The survey is all good, just commenting on stuff I already knew about and none of that should worry a buyer. No issues with the Hull, systems and running gear he said it wad in really good condition

So a polish, antifoul, back into the water and onto the sales pontoon.

Hi Bert, I found this site and project by accident as I was looking for ideas for our 12m steel Dutch cruiser. Can I just take my hat off to you. What a stunning job you have made of the boat and your parents would have been so proud of the time and effort you have put into bringing her back to how she should be. Good luck with the sale.
