I have but I can't reach half the tank because the baffle is in the way. if i was keeping it I'd probably do a little more but as it will be handed over for sale before the end of march I just wanted to get the fuel system cleaned out of the bug sludge.

Id suggest filling it to the brim, but as your selling probably best not too!

I'm planning to put 200l in but that's not even half way. Gonna buy it from a farm so I think it's a quid a litre. The marina is nearly £2 a liter at the moment

Marina will likely be 60/40 split white/red.

Mot sure, I've only put diesel in a few times from a marina pump and didn't get a chance to see it.

The duty rules differ if it's for propulsion or heating. One they only charged at the heating rate so it was cheap as they knew my dad but the other time was full price but that was in a snobby marina

That is where thr 60/40 split comes from, Iirc it is 60 white for propulsion and 40 red for heating/cooking, livaboards can get 100 percent red.

It's physically the same diesel, just different rates of duty charged.

Marine16, not cheap but good gear.
My boat had the bug with previous owner, it wrecked inj pump and injectors, cost 2k to fix.

Repeated what I said few months ago regarding condition of tank

There is diesel resistant paint available
But very very expensive

The issue with more treatment in the tank is I can't get in it to derust more and paint all of it so doing half is not worth doing.

It's a welded part of the boat so not possible to remove it for treatment and cutting it out would require the removal of both engines and a big chunk of the Hull and possibly part of the superstructure to get them out whole. The other option is removing them in pieces so not particularly practical.

If there is a suitable option of filling the tank up with something and then drain to clean them that won't eat the steel then I'm all ears.

I don't think they open the tank on the survey just confirm the engines run and the thickness of the Hull is satisfactory.

As you are steel, that will be their main concern, they only do visual on engines unless the buyer pays extra, even then what can they really tell?

Just had survey on mine by potential buyer, fire exts out of date, trim tabs inop, mast light lens broken (all pointed out to the buyer by me) slight smell in holding tank, and er that was it.
I was quite specific on the price being the price, and if they don't like it then tough tit! luckily the boat is a popular make and model.
My tank has easy to remove inspection hatches, they did not open them.

I had the hull survey done a few years ago so that should be fine.

Passed a boat safety inspection a few years ago so all that stuff is still in date etc.

I'm paying for the survey and having her lifted for that and I'll antifoul at the same time.

Can't really be many issues a survey will find now.

If your worried about the surface, spray it with diesel from a garden sprayer, then fill tank as required and add treatment.

Is it normal for the seller to pay for the survey?
