Stihl repairs and restoration thread

Another one done. This was a junkyard used TS410 that had seized the main bearings. The PO tried taking it apart and stripped out most of the bolts.

Full strip down and rebuild including welding of the typical magnesium bracket failure on these.

New main bearings
New crankshaft oil seals
Full teardown and gasket reseal kit
Carb clean
New Piston Rings
New Air Filters (x2)
New clutch bearing
Original Stihl Cylinder and piston





Unless something really cheap and really close comes up again this will be my last one for quite some time. Need to get on with other projects like my front garage. This means the last of my TS410 parts boxes are now empty and out of my way which is what I was looking for.

Do you be mear Castlereagh much? I know of a TS410 there for £30 needs rebuilt. No affiliation and too far for me to bother

Don't be up belfast direction too often now. Was it on fb or gumtree?

Theres a load of saws coming up this week at a local auction. All from a garage clearance and all look clean and well cared. Mostly huskys including a con saw plus a few stihls.
I have my eye on a nice 026 stihl, I really need my own mid size saw. I have a MS171 that does most work and punches well above its weight but the bar is just too short.

What are the husky con saws like?

Oops- Carrkfergus but same thing really!

The Huskys are good saws too. I've rebuilt 2 or 3 K760's during this temporary insanity phase Hard to match engine parts for them though with the early and late intake port widths and adds never clear on what the fitment is for.
