I'm sick of vacuum leaks so made some blanks for the carb out of brass

We don't subject the transmission to the same punishment, we have a rolling lap to start and once in (race ) gear we don't change.
The only problem I've had is hitting the wall where I've had the selector shafts coming through the front of the box and on another occasion I smashed the gearbox off the bell housing.

Not much crumple zone with those..

I keep tickling away as and when I feel like it , had engine running today briefly as water system isn't quite finished , it may see some laps this year

I’ve seen this bad boy in the flesh, it is some pretty impressive engineering. I always assumed such cars were just thrown together, as if for demolition derby, but they are a hell of a lot more sophisticated than that.

In the early-mid 90s I knew of guys running Toyota Starlets in Hotrods and even then they were spending thousands on engine builds.

When the cars have some battle scars they don't look like much, Rallycross at the time was the same, cars often built by small teams but had hundreds of thousands in them.

Had her run up to temperature and set the timing , the new cooling system seems to be doing a good job.

Yes I'm ready to race , I've smashed my hands and wrists to bits enough times to know to prevent it if possible.

A lad I know used to race off road about 25 years back and hit a rock, arm through the steering wheel and ended up having it amputated

Poor lad was a mechanic

i used to stick my finger though the holes in my doughnut steering wheel and it had a quick rack on as well . fine till i clipped the kurb and nearly ripped it off only ever did it the once

I rebuilt the calipers with new seals, pistons, nipples and new slide pins.
I'm getting to the last of the jobs thankfully.
