on the f2 you could race a 1300 ford crossflow screamer highly tuned or could race the 2ltr pinto with no modifications apart from skim 120 thou of the head and fit a decent race cam in get it balanced and had to only have a twin choke carb fitted .in reality both were about matched for speed now there fitting a ford zetec engine there a bit more powerful
Yeah but a totally different kettle of fish, In the 1300 screamer days there wasn't such a strict weight limit to adhere to so people was building ultra light cars with high revving engines.

you wouldn't say that if u ever raced at barrow in funess , the track was in a large sand quarry and it was raining. that wasn't the bad bit at one corner of the track was the blokes bogs a bit of a tin shed and u peed up the wall insideShale is for racing, Tarmac is for getting there

I put the block in the oven for an hour at about 120 degrees just to take the chill off then ran a few beads of weld with the tig (it's an aluminium block) then reshaped with the mill and a finger sander.
Been there, and it wasn't a fun experience. I spent a few years marshalling then 3 years racing bangers. Loved it (winning the Blyton winter championship as a novice was one of the hilights) but a couple of management descisions put my back up so I quit and have never been back.
