Friday last week I reversed my chunky Turismo in a 9 point turn on a 200 mtr long 40 % incline dead end hill that was five feet wider than my car is long. It's some thing I done numerous times previously without mishap .
This last time I'd just about made the 4th point & about to stop & select forward to move forward when the cobbled road edge at the back of my rear wheel drive car gave way & flung the car up the kerb and back ten inches into a 20 inch tall &thick low wall c/w railings. Going back onto the the low wall caused the car to lift itself up on to the top wall edge & gently say " Hello " to some of the railings .

The rear quarter of the plastic bumper popped out the mounts , I've not only got several very deep scrape marks on the bumper on each side , there is a nasty permanent fold line on the LH underneath . You can tell it's been pranged by the half inch gap between the LH side panel & the tailgate door .

It's off to the crash repairs inspectors for assessment of damage & repair tomorrow afternoon , I'm so pleased we only have to pay a motability excess of £100 to get it back like new as I reckon the prang is going to cost several £ thousand to sort out as new .

I bought a Denon X2000 on Facebook, known faulty. Seller said that it just went off with fast red flash from the status LED, so he bought a new one. Me thinks he doth speak with forked tongue!

I found (as diagnosed from the status LED) a failed power transistor. I replaced that and still had no sound output, so a little probing found most of the low voltage rails missing. I thought something was a bit strange because all of the 78 series regulators were floating about, the 79 series just encapsulated in heatshrink and clearly not the way it was designed.
All the usual tests were carried out, including removal of every single component in the regulator area but still there was a short circuit to earth. I got out the microscope and found a tiny short between two pads of a 7805. I cleared that and rebuilt it with new regulators and thermal pads etc to bolt them down with.

It powered up and I still had no sound but I did have a buzz when touching the PA inputs. Then it dropped back into protection mode having taken out one of the power transistors. £6.75 and a few days to arrive.


I got that fitted and checked all the Voltage rails, all looked right so it was tested again, with the same no audio problem. Then it dropped into protection mode again, having taken out a pair of power transistors in the other front channel. Before I realised that, I bypassed the protection mode to take readings and was rewarded with magic smoke. That needed a pair of transistors £13 and two 22r resistors that required 21 power transistors to be unsoldered. Piggin' 'Ell.

Tonight I ran it up and found it was working, although low power output and some distortion. I was probing about with the 'scope and signal injector when I heard that all too familiar clunk again. Sure enough it was in protection mode and supplied free magic smoke this time without being forced into it. Two more power transistors short circuit and I found that one of the driver transistors had its collector missed from the resoldering.

The service manual and circuit diagrams are not wonderful and don't tell me for instance what the HT should be for the power amplifier section. I am seeing +58V and -58V so think that is about where I would expect to see it.

More power transistors ordered now and another few days to wait before I can blow some more up!

I bought a labelling machine from an autojumble earlier in the year, and have been looking for my box of mains power adapters to be able to test it out. The other day I found one of those multi-voltage ones in the shed, so I set it to 9v DC output and tried it. Nothing. As I wasn't sure if the power adapter was working, I stuck a meter across the output - 15.5v. Marvellous. I hope that doesn't mean I've blown it up internally and wasted the £1 it cost me. Should have tested the meter first, really. The Event Wise.

You may be OK, those type of power supplies tend to show much higher voltage until you put a load on them, try connecting a small car bulb across it then check the voltage.

Could he have been testing you on how well you new the regs? The other way of looking at it, if the interviewer wasn’t clued up, maybe you are better off not going there.

Ran over a fallen branch the other day. Ripped off the underbody fuel line shield. Went back and found it or so I thought. Had my lad print some new clips as the old ones were broken.

On the ramp last night...realised there's another 2' long section missing!

£80+VAT from Ford if I can't find it!

OK, I'll have a go with that. Although if that's the case, it means my labeller doesn't work. I'll take some AAA batteries and try those in it.

I did actually try it both ways, as I thought I'd blown the thing up anyway I felt I'd nothing to lose. I'm only disappointed because it's got a decent amount of label tape in that I'd like to make use of.

Got a quote for repairing the bodywork on the nearly new work van we have on leasing.

1500 euros, after I scraped it on a wire reinforced block of stones a 'gabion' in French.

Luckily it's covered by the insurance, still felt pee'd off.

There is a little spring lever that holds them in place.

Small jewellers screwdriver. through the slot (that's takes a bit of time to locate.) Or down through the cable entry.
Lever, remove cable.

Note ! The only paint or wood stain you should throw away is the stuff that rattles when you shake the tin.

I bought new wheels for my LC and found out the center bore is way to small to fit. Unfortunately I've fitted tyres so I can't send them back. I'll make a plate to bolt to the back of them to align a hole saw

my wolf drill or better known as my dads wolf drill is not metal but newer blue and light grey in colour

im weary of it but will use it, Ive never known my brother use it but hes been warned if you do grip it, if it gets loose it will hurt

my nephew has been refused to use it, even though he refused to touch it

its wrapped my knuckles a few times when its grabbed and handles gone round and cracked them at the back

I bet it’s not as vicious as my old AEG. The only way to grip it means you squeeze the lock on, so if it catches you can’t stop it. Frightening thing. Once when drilling a hole with 20mm holesaw inside a rittal box, it caught, spun out of my hands and carried on spinning until it pulled the flex out of the 110V plug..
