Looks like 3 different sizes now, has it happened before ? Probably time to drill them all out and go metricBrother in law works in a bakery I got a can you fix this message.....
Pie press plattern screw snapped off in blind hole.
Tried welding a nut on ...
No joy it's only 3/16" Whitworth so too small for me to MIG...
Ended up drilling it out to 3.7mm tapping size
Remains came out nicely with a triangular file.
Had several attempts at making a new screw eventually ended up with a M6 bolt turned down to 4.7mm threaded and then TIG welded the wing nut on. Not my finest work
All same thread, the old ones were worn but still work. It was a rush job so haven't made it all perfect.Looks like 3 different sizes now, has it happened before ? Probably time to drill them all out and go metric
That press looks interesting.....Lucas 18 ACR alternator off my Ford 4600 tractor. In fact I put a new one on for expediency but have cleaned and rebuilt the original one as a 'shelf spare'.
This consisted of pulling it apart (no small task with the bearings) and replacing both bearings, slip ring assembly and brushes, regulator and rectifier.
I've bench tested it spinning it with my Milwaukee 18 v impact driver and it happily charges a car battery at 15 - 20 amps dropping off as the voltage tops out at about 14.6.
So it's been suitably labelled, put in a zip lock bag for 'next time' and put on a shelf, probably to be put in a skip in years to come after I've popped my clogs !

I have press envy. I wondered why it had ball screws.
Platten motor solves that question
I shall look….Rebuild thread here, but they are acme threads not ball screws.
I have a frew of them.I fixed my (very) old trolley jack today.
For a few years now, the handle kept falling down after I put it away (read shoved into an empty bit of the shed!) and only a week or so ago, I discovered a broken spring!
For the princely sum of £1.19p a replacement one was purchased, surprisingly still available from Sealey, and fitted!

I should probably give it a clean now
you just need to watch it doesn't spring up into the car doors now.I fixed my (very) old trolley jack today.
