No, most bolts act as a fastener - this screw is acting a lead screw - and contrary to most of the complaining on here about accountants rather than engineers designing cars, you appear to be complaining a correct engineering solution was used . . . I would argue the accountant still won as they didn't add an anti-seize compound - nor, by the sound of it, did any of the owners . . .you could say that any bolt is acting as a clamp. for what it is doing in this case its making things complicated for the sake of it
