The mounting bracket on the right of this glass shelf in the shower fractured yesterday while I was soaping my lower legs (easiest way to do it with my back problems). Luckily I was able to retain my balance and not fall though the glass wall of the shower.



The bracket looks like it's made of die cast. The problem was that the shower is now an obsolete design and that type of bracket is long out of stock. As luck would have it, I have a short length of 30 x 30 316 stainless channel which has rolled edges; my builder neighbour gave to me. I cut it to the same length and then converted it to a piece of angle, drilled it and fitted it. Problem quickly solved and at no cost.

But I suspect a few can guess what it was.

I am not allowed to post the new item, as due to what site I am working on, it would be criminal.

But, the good thing about that unit.
Despite the damage it still worked.

a decent spring compressor makes the job far easier and safer , if the top nut is siezed an inverter heater is handy although I have drilled down two sides of the nut and used a chisel to splt the nut in the past

Ended up having to cut the nut of the top of the strut it was to far gone. The compressor I have does the job, but by no means the best.

My Milwaukee K900 breaker, was bought from an auction and didn't work it only cost me about 90 quid so not a big loss, checked all the power places that might have issues etc, got to the brushes, and one of them had been played with and was fitted so that it didn't reach the armature, the spring rather than pushing it in, held it out. 20 seconds later its working, 15 minutes later its all back together.

Busy today!
New hinges on the barn style front door, never realised how badly brass hinges wear out....no need to bang the door shut now!
Polished the car headlights with a kit off Amazon, Honda CRV with 220K on it and the plastic headlights looked sand blasted and yellow. One hour of drill polishing and they look great, well worth doing.
Removed a leaking sink, had to get the propane torch on the tap nut to loosen it off and re-tighten it. Why is it that pedestal sinks are so bloody difficult to work on...grrr.
Then removed the supply and overflow pipes from a new old temporary WC in the new house, washers gone hard and crispy and leaked like a sieve yesterday. Such fun.
While working on the car tried to fix the engine management fault caused by glow plugs, proving difficult to find that one so a fail there today.
Finally worked on demolishing a Chinese take away!

Hellermans rubber sleeve placer. Actually, a very useful piece of kit for tidying up battery cable ends, but the price of a new one is eye-watering. I'd have one if I could find it at a bootsale for example.
