Today I laid a big old Cedar to rest, cut it up into short sticks for milling.

you do indeed, just been fitted with a new electric start diesel engine, controls are going in and then onto paint.

Excellent. Is that direct drive of some sort or is it using traction motors?

I made a nice tidy controller for my microscope, one switch turns the lamp on and off, the other two zoom in and out, and move the head up and down for focus. Tie wraps are only temporary, but I haven't decided how to fix it permanently.



The blue board is a breakout for a dual H-bridge IC, the resistors pull its inputs high to put it in a short brake state, the switches take one input at a time low to turn the motor clockwise or anticlockwise. I tried doing it without the IC, but ended up with eight relays and essentially built two H bridges . The one relay on the board is for the lamp, it's 50 watts running on 5VDC, the switch is only rated for 6A AC. The white flex carries 5v and 12v from a power supply, it's not live and neutral as the cores might suggest.

Unfortunately, it doesn't work, it zooms out but not back in, hopefully I just pulled a wire off when I stuffed it in the case.

the diesel has a v belt drive to a forward / reverse single speed torque convertor box which has an inbuilt clutch, that then runs a drive chain to both axles of the rear bogiw.

Last week I altered the back of a wheelhouse to shift the door from the starboard side to the port side so that the skipper could fit a chair in front of the wheel without having to try and squeeze past. He is loving the door being at the port side but he couldn't easily get on the chair as it is one of these JCB style ones and springs high when no load on it so I made this wee step for him to get up high enough

This is a base for my own computer chair at home, a lovely seat from a Subaru legacy Spec B. I previously had a base cobbled together from steel but decided to make one from Alu instead.
