but seriously, lovely piece of work thereA few days ago I embarked in rebuilding a tap wrench that had a hard life and was of no use I salvaged a few bits is the tap holders and the left hand thread that fits in to the holders these were turned down to a smaller size after the thread the new handles were drilled to a very close fit then partially filled with solder then the solder melted and the shredded stub droped in all the lathe work was done on the 1947 drummond M that I purchased a few months ago stainless 303 was used for the handles and 25 mm EN3B for the main body pic before I started

Another roundtoit ticked off, well 3 actually
So garage was built about 4 years ago and due to issues with the concrete floor I ended up laying porcelain tiles. Always meant to run a bit of angle around the pit to stop the edges of the tiles getting chipped, well that time is now along with a coat of white paint on the walls of the pit and the ladder got bolted in place, H&S etc
Masked off and primered
Finished off with yellow top coat, had to leave the heater going or 2 days to get it to go off

Made short work of some hub bearing removals today using BOC`s finest removal tool
Oh joy oh joy!! That looks like transit front wheel bearings,
Absolutely ar5e about face way of doing bearing's!! What's wrong with the normal disc on the outside of the hub???
Still though I use a 4 1/2 inch grinder with a 1mm disc then a chisel on the inner races.

Today I made after looking through L.H spareys book the amateur's laith I disided I was going to have a go at making a tail stock did holder so that's what I did some of the machining looks a bit scratch I know hopefully that will of been cured tonight after machining a new back plate and chuck I new the old chuck was out and machined some of it out a while ago but the jaws were past there best as well

Today I made a horrible mess, Nylon is the bane of my life.
Made two of these, both the same diameter but one 5mm longer.
Peeled off the swarf and this is what they looked like.
One was a plain bore as that was for a hanging block I had not made.
The other was bored out to suit bearings as I put them in all the rollers/hanging blocks I do, saves the pin wearing and also rolls much better.
Had to make a new pin for the plain bore one, didn't have any more bearings or I would have put them in the other roller. Anyway I machined out the old worn pin from the plate and then welded the plate to a new pin.
Now home in time to go and get the bacon on

thats interesting, do you have to declare that you promise not to watch live tv on the tv licence forms?No telly and illegal to watch on the computer, thankfully
i only ask as students local to me we warned about watching tv on laptops and whatnot with no licence.

I don't have a TV thus don't have a licence so have no forms to fill in.
We get letters every few months telling us an inspector will come round to check up, so far he has never appeared, seems to just be a scare tactic so far as the language used is bordering on threatening.
When/If they turn up it will depend on his attitude as to whether I will let him in or tell him to GTF. They have no right to be on my property unless they have the police with them and a warrant but as I don't have a telly anyway and don't watch any even on the computer I have nothing to hide.
As for Students, back in the day I think it was ok for them to watch TV if their parents had a licence at home, then again that was probably only when in the Halls, was a long long time ago so things have probably changed.
