Maybe a minute, all done in the wizards (conversational) Just punch in some numbers and off you go.
For example here is the linear drill wizard.

And then the circular groove wizard.

Coming from no cnc milling experience but lots of commercial cnc routing experience how do you reference the job? our was all from a known zero point in front corner.
Do you clamp work up then manual position using the control as a Dro to find a known position before program runs.

Oh yeah my planer/thicknesser tipped over, you can see the motor in the middle of the picture... I am now making a new planer stand with better castors, one of the ones on the old stand are broken, the cause of it tipping so easily.

After a castor failed on me, I now put feet by the side of castors, just off the floor. that way if the castor fails it falls on the foot.

In this particular example I set the first block up in the vice on parallels and had the end level with the vice. I then used my Haimer to touch off the Y Max and zero the DRO in Mach. I then move and touch off the Y- and then click the Y DRO in Mach and /2 Enter and that halves the value in the DRO and thus has the centre of the block as Y0.
Do the same for X, I then moved to X0Y0 from the MDI line (manual data input, so type G0X0Y0) Once in the centre then as the holes were on Y0 I didn't have to do anything there but the holes were 52mm apart so in the X DRO I just reset the position to +26. I could then go into the wizards and enter the numbers I needed for the operations.
When it came to the next block I just placed it in the vice in the same position and pressed Start.

Sounds more complicated than it is and takes longer to type than it takes to actually do it.

Made the pipe coming off the intercooler for the dump valve. Hard to tell in the pic but it curves down before going 90° out to the side.

Finished the tool roll. It's not meant to be a fully comprehensive tool kit, just a handy selection of tools for 'on the road' repairs and adjustments. Included are a 6" pair of linesman pliers, a 6" pair of nippers, a bicycle combination spanner, a Brooks bicycle spanner and a multi allen-key/hex drive thing. There's also a spare pouch on the end in case you need to put some papers or a card in, maybe small components to stop them going walkabout. Just felt a spare pouch was a good thing to have. The sewing is really poor - think the last time I did sewing by hand was year 3!

Today a turned 8M of 25x10 in to a new grid to replace a box section one that had rotted out then painted it with galvafroyd

EDIT, EDIT: Much embarrassment, forgot the mug, but it measures 9.25" top to bottom.

Also, if anyone has any spare pistons, conrods, bearing caps and bolts lying around, I'd be happy to have them for beer tokens.

Following on from the tail stock did holder I made over last weekend today I have made its bigger brother or sister that clamps on to the front of it and take large 50 mm OD does then sucsesfully threaded some bar with a 20 mm die

When using one of these, with the work-piece in the chuck, do you just set spindle speed to slowest and free off the tailstock, letting the die [or possibly tap too] pool it in. Does it stop itself or do you have to hover over the "Off" button, watching like a hawk?
