I never noticed that part of your post, well I suppose the "Snoopers Charter" could well be one way. Supposedly for anti terrorism but it allows all sorts of people to gain access to browsing history of which ISP's have to keep for a year.
Police state? nah never Oh if I recall MPs made sure they were exempt for the charters snooping.

Oh sod it, i know its no metal work job but joinery, but i am so chuffed with it and the time its took and no good at joinery, i like welding as if you cock up you can weld a bit in easy.

I dont think i have much left now of the Iroko worktop i bought, got a good few jobs done though. Galley work top and a few bits, window handles, like holders/surrounds, and the step. All for £25

Today has been quiet but I did take a example from Hood and clean the laithe down from yesterday o and striped the top slide swivel down to find a brass ring after cleaning I found it had divisions marked on it and nos so I put everything back to gether and gave it a test run after fitting the new chuck and back plate last night and wow I am pleased with it for a old one two short video clips to follow

LOL i thought that was a roman artifact you dog up at first after a weekend metal detecting. Its all i see now with lads at work talking about it and there finds.

Been strugling with metal storage so i made this rack.

Bits and pieces day today,
First some steel brackets for a walk in customer, not a clue what they are for but quite nice to make.

Then weld up a few pipe spools, only for low pressure steam in a heat exchanger coil so just tigged.

Then tig 8 of these stainless bosses to a box section rail, customer said he wanted a neat joint, they had a go at it themselves and made a bit of a mess of it, this should do him though.

And after a bit of a clean to take the colour out

Made the pipe coming off the intercooler for the dump valve. Hard to tell in the pic but it curves down before going 90° out to the side.

Its 5 pieces of pie cut pipe. All cut at 15°

Is that stainless you have used were the pie cuts done on a band saw ? Did you use Piller on the pipe joints or just fusion welded back purge or no backpurge ?

Not much with metal (at all actually) and I don't even like my tools painted...

But today I spent the day painting tools and sewing this tool roll for a friend who doesn't have any tools but does have a broken bike. The idea is it rolls up then a cover folds over and I'll see if my mum's sewing drawer has any poppers in to fasten it shut.

And then onto the sewing. I hate sewing. It always goes wrong for me! We have an old Singer machine and I can never set it up properly, always manage to balls-up something and get a huge clump of thread at the start... so I used a needle and thread and it's taking forever! Still, it'll be tough and that's good. Give me a machine rebuild over this any day...

@The_Yellow_Ardvark I feel this is a similar project as you embarked on with your camp stove - hopefully my friend likes it instead of what happened with yours! We shall see...

Yeah it's 304 stainless. All the pie cuts were done in an old warco 6x4 bandsaw, best thing for doing accurate cuts on stuff like this.
No filler used on the pipe joints just fusion welded and purged with argon. I did use filler on the fillet weld where the pipe goes intothe flange

Made a jig to cut tapers, not that happy with it but it works. I hate making stuff that's kinda half assed. I had the need for one and I found a good design, but I can't wait weeks for stuff like t-tracks to arrive, which just can't be found locally.

Also the state of my shop, some people have commented it being too clean earlier:

Oh yeah my planer/thicknesser tipped over, you can see the motor in the middle of the picture. Fortunately it fell into a trash heap that broke it's fall, so everything seems to be fine. I am now making a new planer stand with better castors, one of the ones on the old stand are broken, the cause of it tipping so easily.... Going after this guys general idea:

But again, this machine is not nice enough to warrant such a nice stand... So I will make something simpler, but still something better than what I got now.

Also moved my woodworking bench around, it blocks the door but I never use the door anymore, the entrance I use is to the right off screen.

Well today has been a day of trying to get on with what I am supposed to be doing and ending up jumping from job to job.
First thing that came in unannounced was two adapter plates to adapt a Landrover engine to a Volvo out drive. I had to take the inner dia out by 30mm or so. No problem I thought, that was until I looked at them, absolutely nothing to clock it to get it centred. I think whoever made them must have had a pet hamster who gnawed them out, the centre was actually an oval kind of shape and all the holes were miles out, the outside was no better.

I just had to mount it on the Chiron and try my best to take measurements and try and find centre, they seemed to be OK as he never came back

Next thing was some Nylon wear blocks for one of the pontoons in the harbour.

Straightforward job especially as I had Nylon the right thickness and width so I just had to cut 50mm slices off, throw in the Chiron and bore and counterbore.

Just about to leave for the evening and in comes a bracket for holding coolers. The top part held a tube type cooler but it had burst so the replacement was to be the more usual Bowman type.

Chopped the upright and cradle off and welded a on a T shaped plate.
