Back in 1972 our senior ATO ( bomb disposal officer ) purchased one of the first new civil Discovery style Landrovers in duck egg blue , it had an aluminium split tailgate .
He'd only had it for about five weeks when he came to me asking if his observation that the paint was bubbling up off the tail gate was right . Just over an hour later I'd found fourteen other places where the finish was failing . It was quickly returned to Landrover , he got a full refund and several hundred pounds compensation .
Ever since that day I've never had much faith in any of the civil versions of Landrover type cars ( seems it was a sound judgement too ) for I'd also seen how crappy the military versions were & had had the misfortune to repair hundreds & hundreds of them .

Bit shallow than i intended but hey ho
Gave it a rub with some 80 grit also put the torch on it to burn some on the nasty stuff, these thing are literally soaked in bituminous paint, boy did it smoke and stink
Few rubs with some 80 grit and i'm left with this

The steel band is around it because those edges look a bit dodgy it'll need a few whacks with the hammer to harden the surface etc
thats as far as i got for an hour or so
I'm undecided whether to make a small stand for it OR make something so it can sit over my homemade anvil, slap some paint on the steel might even varnish or stain the rest of it,not the bowl area of course
Mods, can you flip me last piccy please
I was watching that show on the travel channel, shed and buried. They called on Terry English, the armourer, when in his workshop he had quite a few stumps, all different sizes and depths. The wood in them appeared shiny, weither by use or if they are made like that i don't know.

Well done, I had a Tosh Satellite very similar to that, only no H&K audio which took four or five years of on site abuse before the screen hinges gave in.Not today but yesterday a power Jack fix on a laptop took a couple of hours but I was not rushing and there was a beer or 2 inc in that time scale View attachment 136167 View attachment 136168 View attachment 136169 View attachment 136170 and yes it's was a nice easy one for a change I like to the ones With a cable on much easyer but will say the taking apart the laptop as it was an older one was harder than some of the newer stuff
all fixed for the sum of £3.99 for the part
