I didn't make the whole thing, the main frame was there joined together with small angle brackets and tech screws. I got a call to ask if I could weld some braces on. 50x50x2mm galv shs atrociously fitted up but a perfect job for my diddle flux core welder, which I've only really played with up to now. I welded up all the joints,filling the bigger gaps in the poor fitup with plates and pouring mig wire into the rest, then cut up and welded in the bracing. Good practice for me and a nice strong shade for my friend. I've made 300 bucks this week from welding and some new friends.

I should say it had to fit through a 2000mm x 700mm door way.

Arrived on the back of a flat bed at 12:00 and we left at 18:00

Today I made some tapered pins out of 16mm thread bar.

Rough and ready, but good enough for making a turntable for painting 98mm PCD wheels out of an Alfa 159 bearing and hub.
The bearing is scrap, any normal person would say the car is too, but we all have our crosses to bear.

Still have to make a stand, however it will do in the vice for ceramic coating a couple of old discs.

You might well ask why, it's just an experiment to see how the coating preforms and this should be a real torture test.

Be interesting to see how it performs, I remember years ago being in the local Vauxhall dealers with an extremely irate old boy moaning like mad to the staff that the brake discs were rusty around the bell area on his 12 month old motor and it shouldn't be so what were they going to do!

You can get coated discs.
EBC do them and I got a set for the front.
The coating is thin and doesn't go far into the ventilated slots so probably pretty pointless but why not.

I usually give my brake disc bells a quick spritz of paint before i fit them, they seem to last reasonably well

The little TS50X I’ve been playing with failed on rear linkage so I pulled it apart and degreased today.

Now I need to find a pair of apparently unobtainable 15x29x18 spherical bearings.

Hope you're not relying on the 159 being 98mm PCD - the 156 was 98 PCD (as their steel wheels fit my integrale evo with 10mm spacers) but my 159 has wheels of rather more PCD if I remember correctly.

I'm now at a point where I now have a dedicated grinder for each type of consumable but the anoyance of changing abrasives swapped to an anoyance of swaping plugs over so today I have made the mother of all 16A splitters.

A welder and 5 grinders all on the same extension at the same time definately makes the hassle worth it, and believe me its a hassle! I do NOT suggest anybody else making one of these, i have a lot of experiance terminating cables in the power distro industry, the plug has been drilled out to its maximum, cable grip removed, all 18 conductors crimped into reduction crimps because good luck getting anything more than 6mm into a 16A plug (Its 1.5mm H07RN-F so 9mm2 of conductor) and then after that the whole back end of the connector hs been filled with black CT1 for waterproofing and strain relief. Its an absolue nightmare to do but i wanted one.

Mainly bulk, just want to be able to shove this in my wheeled toughbox with all the grinders and consumables and be done with it, but also cost, its significantly cheaper to do this over a 6 way distro.

Today I made the rear calipers on my Alfa 159 more presentable.

I used Cerakote H series ceramic coating and new seals.

First time I've used a ceramic coating so a bit of a learning curve and it will be interesting to see how it lasts.
