Whats in side, how does it work? (My parents had a game farm, we raised 50 geese per yr for xmas. As kids we got roped in to pluck them; which consisted of dunking in boiling water, the feathers would fall off them, with a pair of rubber gloves on.

Nothing particularly fancy - in fact the PTO driven one is incredibly simple.

There's a circular disc (20" in diameter if I remember correctly) with a load of holes drilled in it and these 'chicken plucker fingers' installed. The drum is just an old water butt with more fingers installed (the black things), there's about 1" gap between the water butt and plate so feet / etc hopefully don't get trapped. The drive is actually really simple for the PTO version - we nicked the gearbox off the old topper which did was a 90 degree 1:1 with beautifully machined bevel gears. This conveniently had a flange for mounting the blades on which I drilled the circular plate for and simply bolted it to it, it also has (other ideas for this) three huge pulleys which were belt drives to the other set of blades in the topper.

Dad's thinking of adapting it for winding barbed wire up (basically attach a heavy object to one end, build a 'box' to contain the reel, and simply turn the PTO over, also could serve as a nice winch mechanism. The rest of it is some angle and some old scaffolding poles and clamps to form the legs. The linkage in the tractor is fairly worn so the legs were there to stop the hydraulics sagging over time and also prevent lateral movement. They work pretty well and are nice and adjustable (chuffed with that brainwave). We actually bought a 3 point linkage frame online somewhere (was about £70) which gave us a good starting point but given we now have dimensions probably not worth it and we'd build our own out of box section following their dimensions.

Could get some more detailed photos if you want and post a 'build thread' but it's currently an unproven design...

Ok so not welded today but started today... As this is a popular thread I thought I'd give you all a laugh at the expense of this guys poor judgment in buying a secondhand digger, half hour after taking his secondhand machine on site and the front end falls off, he is still in denial that IMO this has been bodged for one reason alone, to sell.... anyway I've seen some bodge ups before this one is no exception and ranks fairly high..

I made a thread dial indicator bracket to fit a Myford DTI to my Drummond M over the weekend.

Trial fit to make sure the tail stock would clear it.

Finished bracket ready to be painted.

And fitted to the lathe this morning.

Well after taking delivery of the new beater car (3.0 h6 subaru outback) thought I would put it through its paces.

Really impressed and was all going well,
Almost too well you would say.

Until I saw a big puddle. Problem is I see puddles as targets, so dropped my foot to the floor and gave it all the bean's it had. Flat out in 3rd, and splush! Woo hoo, barrrrrrrrrrr.

*damn it* (or words to that affect)

Turns out the force of the water tore what was remaining of the exhaust off. Still though as I really don't want to spend any money on this car really went to the scrap pile and managed to find a bit of pipe around the right size and shape. 30mins later removed the centre box and breaths alot free'er now. And sounds like a flat 6 porche higher end in the rev range.

Ha ha yep, was pointed out to me at the last MOT that it was just hanging together but it was not leaking so.......
The outback was rapid but the manual Spec B was just that bit quicker and I thought a nicer car all round.

Yep, been working on the spec b today also,

Stripped the whole interior out down to just the dashboard left and rebuilt it all with the stuff out of the crash spec b we have also.

Just got to do the few mot repair work needed then boss is going to hack it round for 12months.

Today I finished my food grade nunchucks.


Not really, they're to be part of a, hopefully quite stylish, light above my bench.

Took a while to get to this stage, some idiot bought an M8 fine tap and had to weld new ends on the tubes to accept the eyebolt.

Won't be finished before I go back to uni, you'll have to wait a couple of months to see it complete.

Did the Drummond not have an original TDI with it loose in a box of bits? Loving the brackets.

And again WOW. Now that is impressive. It takes much skill and blind determ no just blind to produce something like that. It is fixable and at not much more than what it took to get it to that stage in the first place. Probably had a coat of paint which made it look good. Unfortunately used the wrong paint

i do hope that you considered secondary air with that build it does make it much better

nice build though have you tested it yet ?
