If I can go slightly OT, I have just been and fetched some plumbing bits which I ass-u-me d would just fit together. Turns out that I am wrong and the OD is the same on the pipe and caps. What am I missing?

Not just today, but over the last couple of weekends, I've made this scabby garage, into a far nice place to do stuff.

A link of paint on the walls,

Knocked up a couple of wall units.

Boarded the ceiling and painted it white (it's not easy to get an 8x4 sheet of 9mm OSB over your head, while balancing on a step ladder, and screw it to the ceiling on your own, that's for sure)

8 12v LED strip lights, powered by a 100W solar panel and 100AH leisure battery, which will hopefully be enough to keep the lights on when needed.

And a small workbench at one end, the engine crane and tool box fit snugly into the gaps either side, filling in the whole width, but id put another coat of paint on the floor before i rememered to get a picture. (And appologies for the rubbish pictures, I never remember until its too late).

Now all I need to do is sort out all the treasure, that's scattered here, there, and everywhere, into one place and I'm good to go.

The best thing you did there was give it a coat of white paint!

If you are grinding/welding in there, cover that battery! Had one blow up years ago, I assume from a stray red hot spark, so I'm a bit paranoid - but I've not had one go up since.

I get that, I'm not a big fan of it myself. But the difference it will make in terms of light will be well worth the pain.

I need four 1/2" bolts for the upper shock mounts on the trike project. Looking on line the price for imperial bolts is crazy, so I had a brain wave and ordered a metre of 1/2" EN8, a split die, and a pack of stainless lock nuts.
I cut and threaded them, went very well, tightened nuts onto one end. Job done.

Then it struck me, I could probably have bought simple ready made studs in the right lengths on the web, probably cadmium plated, and probably for a lot less cabbage.

What strip lights did you get and how are they working out, need some for my double lockup that has no mains electricity

If no coupler available, a hot air gun to soften the pipe and push the end cap in to it. Let it cool, set and then glue it.

Finally the extension I'm building is up to plaster. Should be all plastered by end of the week.



We have decided to give shaddow beads a go, I like it and saves me fitting skirting.




Finish Is good over all, I will find imperfections because I'm fussy also I'm painting it.

Over the last couple of days I came up with these two spring loaded plungers.

Made from a couple of 8mm bolts, they're to hold the handwheels on my mill/drill either in engagement or out of engagement. I'll machine a pair of grooves in both screws to locate in.
