Joking aside it is far safer than trying to hold the bread ,on a board, and cut past your fingers. I didn't intend to join the H&S brigade.

A thrown together stripboard to give me 5VDC from 24VDC, along with 3 line receiver chips to convert 6 differential signals to single ended signals so I can bodge together the latest project to get a job done.
I'll have to raid the workshop wire collection tomorrow to find a bit more variety in wire colour for the rest of the connections.

My gran used to butter the end of the loaf and then somehow tuck it under her arm and slice the buttered end of the loaf off, resulting in a perfectly buttered slice of bread.

I've no idea how she used to do it, every time I've tried it just results in a ruined loaf and a massive mess.

My mother did the same, allowed you to get more slices from a loaf, since you were able to slice them thinner, no risk of tearing a thin slice when buttering it. I suspect my mother, born 1905 might well have been the same generation as your gran. They'd have known tough times. There's a fair chance that the loaves they bought, or baked themselves would have had a firmer texture than the bread made by the Chorleywood process we buy today, a process which is designed to make a soft fluffy loaf.

My mother, born 1913, used the same technique buttering before slicing. We used to say she had a little bread with her butter it was so thick!
Mind you she lived to 98 so I hope I’ve inherited her genes.

Put a little roof over one of the log Ricks. Used a few spare fence boards. Be a shame to let the logs get a soaking when burning season is just round the corner.

Just checked, my wife’s granny used to butter & cut the bread tucked under her arm, but she was so short, she probably had a job to reach the work top. she was the splitting image of Giles’s granny, fur coat, the stole & umbrella.

I made more bodging -



It transpires that the CNC Shield I purchased to help bodge this machine together has a couple design flaws in it, which requires a bit pin jumpering to solve.

However, I made this bit light up without any bodging -

Yes, although I never planned to use a Nano.
I figured it would be a convenient way to mount the stepper drivers, but turns out I should have bought the older larger version, but even that would probably have involved a bodge or two. This will let me get the machine running for now, then I can make a better PCB.

Permanent markers work well for identing insulation.

I have sorted out a box for the remote control gear this morning. I am hoping to go flying later today and thought it would be best to at least look the part....
I re-used the packaging the printer came in and some hot melt glue. It will suffice until I get more of the breakout foam.
There is room for more batteries etc but I only have three for now.

Washed, salted and portioned up.

Not far of half the price of shop bought butter.
