What kind of Detroit engine ?

I've a 6v53n somewhere in my shed.

I'm quite alarmed at how big your shed must be if you can have a large diesel engine somewhere buried in it

It says 8V71T/8V92TA for this tv8101 turbo.

Fuel pump mounted, one step closer to turning myself into a BBQ...

Today I made a cable come out of a pipe.

Turns out Henry can really really suck. Carrier bag tied to some bailer twine shoved in the entry pipe, Henry Gaffa taped to the other end.

Duct went through a couple of diameter changes and a nasty couple of bends over about 35m.

Messing about with titanium again, these would cost an absolute fortune commercially and nobody would buy them. As anyone on here who reloads knows, you can buy the same thing in plastic for less than a tenner, the material alone would be multiple times that. Squared it up first:

This is what I am making, reloading blocks. It is so you have the cartridges lined up like little soldiers and you cannot accidentally knock them over while they are full of powder:



Carbide mills and Carbide drills, or it just won't fly.
The truth is I have had a good few blocks of titanium I have been shuffling around the workshop wondering what to do with them and rather than look at them any longer, I turned them into something actually useful.

Bit late now but how big are they?

Dad may have had a use for them, his spray etching tank is all titanium as the only thing ferric chloride doesn't attack is titanium and plastic.

I have a similar dilemma after the puppies pulled my draw cords out, might give that a go

These are the roller conveyors I featured here in September,finally,after cutting in half plus a few other additions,I’ve installed them onto a customers cross cut saw,the rear fence is 100/100/8 angle with slotted adjustment,I’m sure there will be other refinements as they put it to use.

Roughing with the new WNMG holder. A fiver from amazon with inserts, it is quite good! Only I cant feed hard enough with my 100mm handwheel to reliably break chips!
Power feed is perhaps a good idea for these, but my lathe only has the threading leadscrew.

Milling with 18mm cutter.

Turned a 12mm CR-V bit which I will screwcut next time to be a hex nut milling adaptor.

@Onoff shaft done except I cant decide how to connect handle on the ends. I was going to thread it.

Okay, I did not make this, the person who did is far smarter than I :



Apparently for drilling spyholes in hotel room doors, made from redundant carbide drill bits. It drills the spyhole bit and counter bores for the lens piece, very much in demand by all accounts.
The actual job I went to see will make an appearance soon I hope.

I made a demonstration piece of how effective a 2mm WDN insert is at making a thread



Still not entirely sure what happened, but I changed an offset for the main turning tool, and for some reason the next part was 4mm bigger on the diameter than it should have been, but after rechecking the offset it was fine, and the next part was the size I expected it to be

It's nightmare to disassemble and reassemble so keep the bare minimum to hold it together for now and I have a tendency to overtighten and strip threads

I've done more in the last month than I have in two years so going on current progress hopefully test each system before firing up in a month or two, just waiting on final parts to arrive and need to rewire the ignition system as burnt out one of the HV generators (not before shocking myself with the microwave capacitor wired to it, both arms spasmed )
