Me and my loved Punto celebrate 4 years together...
So here's a present for both she and me.
I've always fancied about a Sparco or Momo steering wheel.
Unfortunately over here it's not allowed to replace the original steering wheel with a racing type one, if the car in origin has or had an airbag installed.
My car wheel has started to deteriorating deteriorating so I've got this "Alcantara" steering wheel cover
It's a very tight fit, I've had stretch the cover a lot just to get it on the steering wheel.
Then I've started the tedious process of sewing it in place.
While sewing I've had to stretch it by pulling the wire using a hook
Getting this results
Which I personally like a lot
The finished product after 6 good hours of work.
It was 11:30pm when I've finished it.
Unfortunately there was not a yellow variant and had to go with red...
I personally really like the feel of it

In some respects I couldn't agree more.
I do love a photo though. I recorded my bathroom refurb, 3102 photos. My sliding gate build, 695 photos.
Just for context...a photo :
I photograph absolutely everything. I do a lot of "modding" / corrective / traceable & reporting work in the day job so it's a habit.
Really handy over on say the Buildhub forum when someone asks how an insulated floor is built up or a wall hung WC fitted.
Each to their own.

I think the most I did was about 300 on the kitchen refurb.

The socket chisel was subject to some attention.
A bit of a clean up.

The vertical black stripes are a defect in the wood, I liked them, so they stay.

Anything like suede steering wheels, then wear gloves. The grease from your hands soon turns the nice grip into a horrible mess.

Well I'd like to avoid to get my car being towed to the police depotSince when did Italians follow any rules?
Nice job on the cover, looks good.
That's something I didn't take in consideration.
But I've seen there are products to clean it up

Some progress, need to finish the first wall plate/panel on the house end and sometime make up the last foot wide panel to joint the new arris rail/featherboard panel at the end, which I havent made yet.
Highly recommend this level
near everything was zero or upto half a degree depending where you put it.. postsare not particually flat along the length.
The last post hole had a lot of flints, some 6" lumps and the pickaxe did well to smash them up. Engine drill has been great for this.
Also fitted a new pickaxe handle. Needs a clean, then a second coat of boiled linseed oil to keep it nice for next time.
Also before fitting the new handle I saw a large dent in the pickaxe head. No problem for the die grinder but looks like the dent was there before the handle was fitted..
I am also a little irritated that the panels were affixed with now, rusty screws and staples. Would have expected them to use galavanised. Perhaps to ensure they wont last too long?

Much oblique progress on the cylinder head casting.
Turned out really, really well until the crucible turned out to have been about 500 cc too small.
The degassing process was astonishingly eruptive, and the casting essentially scrap, but a great deal has been learned from that attempt.
A considerably larger crucible has now been readied ( no problem for that furnace...) , and once a further batch of oil sand has been readied, a further and more informed casting session will take place. The sand muller is the best bit of kit, though......utterly transformative....

Made a new automatic feeder for the cat. The old one lasted a good few years but the auger tube eventually wore through from the grinding. Who knew cat food was such a good abrasive.
The new design just automates the existing mechanism - retaining the ability to operate it manually. A servo connected with a braided steel cable pulls the handle then releases it (0.65 seconds later).
The servo is controlled by an esp32 connected to WiFi.

Mostly , the discovery that the sand muller is likely a bit underpowered .
There's some seriously demanding phases of sand preparation going on in there, when the sand gets up to a properly useful toughness.
Anyway , the motor capacitor decided that enough was enough this afternoon, so a bit of an enforced pause has occurred.
Still, much has been learned, and a rest will do no harm in the digestion of those lessons.....
