Fake furniture underway.Decided it was time to trade in the drawing board.
Too much faff changing designs for customers and getting the designs to them.
Used sketchup once ten years or so ago.
Not too bad for an hours learning.

Just a sky box and dvd playerAssuming a surround amp is going in the left cupboard they are going to need some vents especially if its an Onkyo.
first thing I did today when I got up was to pay the BOC rental for Argoshield light and Pureshield, and was thinking that it seems like months since I've done any welding. I went to see my sister this afternoon and she asked me if I could repair the base for her garden parasol, rather than throwing it away.
so its basically a cast iron base with a steel tube bolted to it.
anyway it gave me an excuse to play with my toys, so how could I refuse.
so the first part was cutting a base for the tube......as you can see Im not very steady with a plasma cutter

then a bit of fettling, welding a bolt though the hole and the welding the tube to it. I decided to use the MIG as I wanted a gap at the bottom of the tube to let the rainwater out. I used wooden lolly sticks as spacers as they were the nearest thing available, and I was only doing a short weld to locate the base to the tube.

and then checking the tube was vertical

then the base was welded in place (think I could do with a bit of practice

and the finished article, even managed to find her a new locking handle.

and the old tube base next to the new one, I can see why it was wobbly, lets hope the new one lasts another 15 to 20 years.

got to say its quite therapeutic sticking bits and pieces together as a hobby, don't think it would pay the bills doing it as a job though.
