I was left alone again today. but was set a challenge.
Make something out of 2 old dull chairs and a skip.


So with glue, scissors and a pile of old magazines.


Just finished and drying. Well glue drying.

First time its been ridden in at least 7 years. Needs a bit more work before the MOT...

Just as I was about to do some stuff I'd really prefer to be doing the postie delivered a new seal for the washing machine; Project Management had been moaning about the smells emanating from it and from the gunge accumulating from around the seal I assumed a new rubber would resolve.

I thought it would be an easy job, and indeed removing the old seal was easy and took about one second.

An hour later I still hadn't managed to fit the spring that held the seal against the inside of the washing machine and my hands were somewhat bruised. A slight and very childish disagreement with the washing machine ensued and escalated into a load of washing liquid spilling...

I've always wanted to take apart a washing machine and today that moment had arrived! Incredibly, only two Torx and one spanner size later I'd salvaged the motor and the stainless drum for a garden waste incinerator.

New washing machine arriving Tuesday...

Yeah they can be a sod to refit, I had to take a deep breath and count to 10 more than a few times when I replaced ours a year or so ago. I was quite pleased with myself that I resisted attacking the damn machine with a sledge hammer.

I did read, with some irony, that it is much easier if the front panel of the machine can be removed...

As it turned out replacing the seal would have made no difference at all to the delicate scents the machine was able to create; eight years of washing horse and dog clothing and accessories had taken its toll!

Ha ha I know your pain, changed the door seal on an LG a year or so ago and the thing drove me up the wall. I eventually got it but I couldn't believe how hard it was. They talk about progress, well door seals used to be easy on washing machines, it no longer seems to be the case

Worst bit about it was the other half decided after a few weeks that she fancied a new machine

Have to say, I agree, they are “of individual taste”, nay “positively zeitgeisty”, but was too polite to say.

But, if the new owners are happy, then job well done!

I know your painI thought it would be an easy job, and indeed removing the old seal was easy and took about one second.

I had to change the door handle on my washer, looked on utube. It took repair man less than a minute to change,
Started mine, six hours later and four hands helping finally done.

Made a bale catcher for the back end of our new bale trailer this afternoon...

NB NOS bale trailer. It's been sitting in the blacksmiths yard for 2 or 3 years before FIL acquired it a couple of weeks back.

Today I fitted the recycled plastic (oak look) infill into my new sliding gate. It will all be dismantled again when the galv finish weathers a bit for painting.. My wife is delighted how it has finished up.. As I'm very security concerned it's all made with 6mm wall steel and the upright supports for the guide wheels are 80x80x8mm box I think it'll be safe to say it won't be pushed in with a jeep or van

Early this morning I was asked if I would go to a farm and weld a flat edge to a JCB bucket. They need it for Monday morning to load chippings from a concrete base and there can't be any damage from the teeth to the concrete base. The money was good and I also picked up a free air compressor
