Made 4 pads, 70mm x 30mm x 5mm with 2x 7mm holes and welded them to the bow roller frame.
Pickled the inside and gave the outside a very quick polish and then fitted the rollers. Bolts will be replaced as I didn't have any stainless M10's long enough.
Also made a bulkhead fitting out of some 90 degree hosetails, a bit of 28mm Dia tube and a plasma cut flange.
Gave it a rub on the polishing mop.

I was asked if I could make an extension to the spindle of the had from a clock and even got a drawing, and thought it would be better to make in one piece,
so the first thing to do is to press the old spindle out, the spindle is loose in the lathe chuck and the shank of 1.0mm drill was used to press it out
a new spindle was then turned down, and I used a collet chuck rather than between centres as you can turn a few mm (shown here checking the fit of the hand)
then pull it out a few mm more and turn a few mm further down (and the collet chuck keeps it concentric)
ii was tyhen turn round, faced, and a hole drilled to hold it on the mechanism and then a slot was cut, using a very fine slitting saw
and the old and new spindles (and hand)

I actually did this on Monday, when I should have been moving a boat but couldn't as the engine management light came on in the Navara when I was heading down Sunday evening (turned back and called the garage Monday, looked at Tuesday, boost sensor being done under the extended warranty but the bit is coming from Amsterdam so it'll be a few days till I get it back) so was still at home on Monday and decided to use my free day to finally build the little stand for the pillar drill, put it at a sensible height for using and give me a bit of storage underneath for drillbits etc. Also, the belt linisher needed to be on the floor, and they were both on the same little table thing. The wood and ply was all free, recovered when it was removed from something at work. It's pretty robust, so should suit if I replace the drill at some point.

I think its there its a while since ive seen it i'll have a look at the weekend its in a lock up 5 miles away but yes i can easily do that.
one of those jobs that has taken me a while to do but as I needed my bandsaw to cut a few lengths of metal today, I thought it was best to bodge together an oiler for it, and lucky for me I already had all the bits lying about

Today I had to make some hinge pins from Acetal for a Yachts hatch. They were 6mm diameter and 70mm long and all I had was some 19mm dia Acetal. Trying to turn over that length on such a flexible material would be a pain, that is unless you do it in one hit, it then becomes easy. I still used the tailstock just to stop the initial deflection as the tool hit the material but often it is not required.

Don't know who he is but yes it is a common way to do it. Normally you wouldn't use the centre but as the Acetal is very flexible I decided it was best. In steel I wouldn't use the centre.

Making a new fan for a 1937 AEC bus it has a clutch inside like a early viscous fan.
Pleased my pattern worked ! First op I used the lathe to run it up and adjust it until it run true then machining a datum face and centre register

Made up a mounting bracket to hang my surgical microscope on the wall, wanted to do this for years but only now had all the pieces and the time. 
The column on the wall telescopes up to keep it up out of harms way. I still need to make up a combined shelf/cover for it to keep it more protected.
Also need a power supply/controller for the actuator, zoom and height motors and the lamp in the microscope. I've also started (Two years ago
) to make another articulating arm section to give it a bit more reach.

What do you use the scope for maker ? I was looking out for one, as i wanted to learn how to engrave.

The rare occasion it gets used will most likely be for fine pitch electronics repairs or things of that ilk. I don't really have a need for it but it was too nice to go in a skip. 
I'd really like to mount a camera (Looking at Sony a6000) in place of one of the eyepieces and take pictures through it but I can't help feeling I'd get the same effect for less effort with a macro lens.
