My workshop is an old (1994) shipping container. The doors leak and the corosion around them is pretty bad, it’s like the forth railbridge chasing the corrosion around. More patches than a quilt

To help keep the rain off the doors I’ve knocked up an awning. It’ll also help keep the doorway dry from the rain when I’m in it with the doors open. Roofing sheet from the scrapyard and some offcuts of 50x25x2.5 for the supports.

Total spend £12

This is it’s less photogenic side of the container as the otherside is freshly painted.

Knocked these out today, cylinder restraint brackets for a pub cellar, the customer will sort the chain lengths when he fits them

Problem solved. Splines extended in the 62Hrc hardened shaft. Even more impressive was the £10 cutter I used Ok, cutter is tired as the coating is gone,but it did the job...

Starting stripping a Mountfield Empress mower down. It’s got a cast aluminium deck with a big ol’ hole in it.

Just contemplating whether to get it vapour blasted and powder coated.

Needs a few bits sorting on it.

Looks like the picture attached.

Mrs. Dad should be happy with it once it goes back. Reckons the self propelled drive hasn’t worked for years.

10/14 varitooth is what tuff saws recommended to me for cutting box, tube & angle. 6/10 is more for thicker or solid materials, if you use it on thinner stuff the teeth will break. You work on the principal of always having at least 3 teeth in contact with the metal.

I'll give that pitch a try before doing anything drastic with the saw.
Since I cleaned the tires the blade has stayed put so I think it worth keeping it standard.
It's quick to change blades so I could keep both types if I need to cut heavier stuff.

Last worktop I did I was I'll and rushing.
Fitted the bushing on my router upside down and trashed a Jig. 120 quid later a new jig on the bench.

Ouch could be worse, my dad was having a kitchen put in and the joiner cut the sink opening in the wrong place and had to buy a new length of it. Not the end of the world you might say? well the worktop was about £210/length and he was only charging £250 for the job.

Which means we have a working (read not finished yet) kitchen.

Mason miter isn't to bad, I'm not overly happy with it but for my first one it'll do.

In a mason's mitre, the two elements being joined meet as for a butt joint but a small section of one member is removed creating a socket to receive the end of the other.

I think I'm just being a bit picky, the fake grain coming together at 90 degrees probably makes me notice the joint more.
Got the breakfast bar and some other bits in today and we made our first meal in our new kitchen this evening .

Well, minus a few teething problems while we both adjusted to a much more modern cooker than the one we have been using for the last 3 years which was bought in 1985 by my gran when she owned the house. Turns out it needs calibrating in low light if the power has been off to it so the sensors well work when there is bright light in the room All very modern and took a few reads of the instruction booklet to find out why we were getting an error message.

This morning I’ve made a handrail from 22 mm round,an unusual size for me.customer supplied a template.wasshers welded to the base of posts for grip in the stone.
