They normally like to pepper everything with draining/venting holes and stiff you a quid a pop for the privilege

I never think the price is unjustified, considering without drawings they have to roughly put the stuff together, work out what its probable use will be and how it may be positioned, so they can put the off centred rough-looking holes in the most conspicuous place possible.

Started painting the motor
This is the primer , after another hand of rust protection primer (cast iron housing not alluminum) I will paint it in "Pullman blue" or mostly known as "sky blue"

Are names used here in Italy I don't know if is the same denomination as yours but is a colour similar to the NEW HOLLAND blue

Tractol used to do a colour called 'compressor blue' & it was a light blue colour, I think it's now called Leyland Blue. I used gallons of it over the years when all the refrigeration compressors in the plant room at work got their annual painting.

It is similar but as here ral 5015 seems to be product in various tonality so is not easy tell which colour is
But I will make a photo soon

Finally made a cordless charger rack, I was sick and tired of them being all over the place. Now to wire them all up to one plug

I have found that a needle gun works really well for removing old paint back to factory primer (if there is any) and will get into all the little spaces. You need patience and a decent compressor though

I'm restoring an old three phase ex 100 litres air compressor because I haven't an air compressor yet
Unfortunately the tank isn't good anymore so I took it to the scrapyard
The project now is build a frame to mount on motor and pump
After that I will buy a VFD to allow me to use the compressor during the build of a rotary phase converter 230V 1~ to 400V 3~
Because I have also other things that need three phase
Anyway I can use my engine driven welder as power generator to use the compressor
I will have to modify propane tanks to make the air reservoir
Not a true mod just change the valve after bonified the tank
Just a 3/4"npt Left hand to 3/4” right end , putting the tank upside down to allow the moisture to Go down and be purged

Edit I forgot about the needle scaler I always thought that is something I need also to peening welds
During this motor cleaning operations I wished to have one , because I used my chipping hammer and a drill wire brush

Just finished to paint the compressor motor and assembled

Also made research about rotary phase converter components and I found a very cheap alternative to capacitor battery
There are just big capacitor suitable for the task so I will buy them once my rotary phase converter is at good point

I had to heat it up to put it back
I will paint it in black maybe tomorrow
I was thinking to skip to paint it for two main reasons
1- the belt could slip
2-I will see this motor once every X years because the compressor unit will be in a hidden spot accessible only using a ladder
Essentially it will live on the roof of the shop into a little cabin

Amongst other things I got the life raft boxes welded up today.

I love the EWM Phoenix, positional welding is a breeze, you can weld uphill as easily as on the flat so you don't even bother repositioning the job.

Outside corners are great with the double pulse.

Barrier to hold keypad inside for opening gate in work was made from whatever I could find handy

Chequer cover made roughly and quickly to stop anyone breaking a leg

The fence panels there’s 4 in total awkward enough to do but they came out as designed . My verdict is still out on whether I like them or not

I made up another fence frame while I wait for fittings to arrive. I’m beginning to not love 40mm box.
