I too have put in an undercroft/ mezzanine level ( ten yrs or so ago ) and have done as you have done wrt the rods , I have eight tubes holding arc rods and three tubes holding lengths of welding or brazing rod IIRC .
May I suggest you use a fine point sharpie & write the rod size & type on both end caps … it's handy when you have three or four tubes out . Found after a couple of years I had to lay tubes on top of the undercroft as they started to slip down out the spring clips .
It's also handy to have a spare pair of end caps ready for the next tube you find you suddenly need .
Ryman have a wee Brother label maker at half price so I picked one up the other day - it has been put to good use doing exactly that and with more precision than a fine Sharpie in my hands could ever do!
Indeed... have enough tube and fittings for another few canisters should (when!) the need arises!
