A mad rush to the head.
I watched a friend use an adapted Adze to clear weeds.
I have an adze, but for my mad idea it would be to big.
This build has no other use than to keep what's left of my sanity going.

Take a dead handle and mount into a vice, drink coffee.

Shape, you can see the hand tools just above it.

Shape the hole to suit the bit off steel you have to hand. Drink a coffee and tidy up the scrap bin.

Now, to harden the steel.
Heat the whole lot up to a cherry red, then quench in oil.
Here you can see me re heating the tip to dip into charcoal powder to add an layer of carbon hard steel.
It was then polished, after coffee and tempered to a light blue colour.
The paraffin torch went pffffts, so I had another coffee.

Make a wedge and add a strap to the handle.
2 rivets, made from a mug of coffee and 5.5 mm bar were fitted and a ball pein used to flatten and tighten.
The blade I made, with a coffee was used to scrape the dirt off the handle. Before I fitted the strap.

Drink a coffee as the stain dries, this was shop brought stain. Over the coffee the different woods took the stain in different manner.

Assemble, yes, sips a coffee, this is correct.
In use the force will secure the blade very well.
But in this shot the blade needs the be turned, so the bevel faces you.
I saw that and went for a coffee.

No it is not perfect.
The blade needs a better edge, the angles are to steep. for tis kind of operation.
I used 25 and 30deg. They need to be at least 15 and 20 deg.
Plus it needs to be a bit keener.
But as prove of concept, it works.

Man, you live in the land of the Fly Fifers, they will just nick the bars as wellAfter an hour or so at the 'puter finalising dimensions I enjoyed a few hours in the workshop cutting and getting set up for the closest I've ever come to a production run! Horizontal bars across the windows in the workshop to beef up security as we're a bit more wary since it seems someone tried to nick the trailer.
