3ft bar through the loop, brace leg against fence.

i'd put an m10 coach bolt through the plate, fence _and_ rail.
then a big washer on back, plus a nut and blob of weld.
(then i'd wire it up to the mains - but thats just me. )

As much as I ike that bracket, I would question the quality of that lock mate. Cut through that with cheap wire cutters. I know this because it happened to me In Chiswick. Chiswick for goodness sake, Mark Lemarr lives there.

Thanks for the concerns but i should of mentioned i live in the suburbs and my house is gated with 2 meter gates..cant be seen from the roads and the only person who can steal them bikes is the person who climbs over a 2 meter wall and if that happens they are welcome to them. The Lock?? yea made out of chocolate and if i was,nt on lock down i would of spent my time fighting the world to pay bills so who cares ..

So as I'm having to spend more time in the garage socially distancing myself from MrsG (neither of us have it, I just annoy her apparently ) I decided to move the spare TV (not used for 3 years) out there.
Only issue would be an aerial. After 2 failed designs and a peruse of the web I created this from what I had lying around.
61 channels. Some require a booster for best reception but hey it's made of wood, wire and screws and is indoors around lots of LED transformers and WiFi



I've also put up some racking to take all the lengths of wood that were just stood/lying around the place.
Really need to do similar for my longer lengths of metal.



It's gradually getting more organised out there, so I might actually get back to welding something soon.

Just made a rough and ready paddle rack for the shed.

Today I made my hilti drill work again

I've had this drill a long time and it's given good service.
A while ago it stopped working so a just got around to seeing why.

Took it apart and the bearing in the motor at the brushes end had completely disinterested, no ball bearings at all.
Hilti certainly didn't want anyone to change the bearings and I had to grind the welds off to get the top plate off.



The inner race was seized solid so to remove it I welded a washer and got it levered off while it was still red hot.





The outer race was as bad and I welded some 6mm thread bar to it and hammered it out





I couldn't fin a way of replacing the front bearing but as it felt OK I left it.
Putting it back together was easier, apart for getting all the missing ball bearings out, I found 3 but one was stuck inside the motor but eventually it freed up.
It might become a problem done the line but it was scrap anyway.

Welded the motor top plate on and put the drill together.






And the biggest surprise is, it all works.
I'm not holding out much hope it will last but fine for now.

PROGRESS

Moved everything over from that engine on the left to the engine on the right, While sandblasting it then painting or cleaning. Just trying to get that nice "New" look and pretty happy with it

I save a few ground down discs for little jobs like this rebate.

Made a couple more of these. Ferric Chloride etching after masking off with vinyl stencils usually used for Van signwriting. Sprayed with Enamel and then sanded back before a quick polish.

I did wonder if Ferric Chloride would etch brass or Copper. Would be nice to 3D etch and then get things chromed. Any ideas?
