If I am melting to cast. I use a iron pot belly stove and use clean alloy.

The lot mention was not clean alloy, there was ferrous, brass, copper, plastic all mixed in.
So it gets melted and separated.

My local yard has 2 people who work in the Non Ferrous shed. One who knows me is a bit lenient. The other is not.
One bit of ferrous in the alloy and the whole weigh in goes down as dirty alloy.

Not just today, the last three weekends. I have made and installed the mezzanine floor in my unit. Wouldn’t have been possible without my sons help. Has yielded another 36 square meters of storage space.

So today or better yesterday (it's already Sunday here in Italy)
I managed to break the knife handle .
Tried to save it til I've decided to destroy it and make a new one
Later in the morning I'll upload pictures about
So ten minutes ago or so I've kicked out a kidney stone without problems or particular pain
It's around 4 or 5 mm in diameter but later it will appear smaller (liquid loss ,it will shrink)
Now is with his friend I've kicked out a month ago , them are closely close now
Later I'll continue the knife project and I will upload pictures

I've actually finished the knife
Cut flush the brass pin
Sanded the handle
"Polished" the blade using brown scotch brite
Sharpened the edges but they still dull (it does cut but it's not razor sharp)
Ingraved the handle using my tungsten carbide scribe (I'm not set up for wood working since I hate it)
Used my soldering iron to burn the ingraved drawing
Ingraved the date 4-2020 and my name D.C. in the bottom of the handle
Used the blow torch to darken the wood
Used oil on the handle , when it will be dry I'll apply another bit

(not Lin seed oil but just cooking seed oil)

Just kicked out another kidney stone
It's around 7mm
Again everything seemed to be okay but while making urine felt pain eard the sound (like dry firing a gun)
It has a little point also
I could make pictures of the stone if someone like to see them
No I will not someone could be hurt

So this morning I started sharpening the knife , it's a long procedure ,I have a 50mm spot on the blade where the edge is flat .
I have to grind down maybe 0.1 or 0.2mm yet.
After that I'll polish the blade firstly using the sharpening stone and eventually the polishing paste (which should be 8000 grit)

Got the plasma cutter out this evening and cut up some aluminium sheet:

(the stripes are just an effect of having bare LED strips lighting the workshop, nothing to do with the finish on the aluminium).

Not very interesting, just decided it was about time I did a bit more TIG practice. I'd been hoping to ask for someone on the forum to offer some 1:1 tuition as I'm a great believer in "practice makes permanent" - i.e. that if you keep practising but doing it wrong, you can get very consistent at doing it wrong, with lots of bad habits that will be hard to break. 1:1 tuition isn't going to happen anytime soon for obvious reasons, so I'll just practice and try to be hyper-self-critical.

Made a LOT of blue swarf today. Prototyping and learned that nylon is an XXXXX to work with (I remembered as soon as I started, poor memory). Then some red and blue Acetal then some Nylatron. If you have never prototyped before, what it means is, you start with a load of useful material and turn it into scrap. Spend a lot of time doing it and learn some new words along the way. Ended up with a couple of possibilities though so not a total loss

managed to sort out a tool to fit the lathe today so got a piece of stock down to the right size for making some needle holders for the needle gun up at the railway workshop,
not much i know but it was good to use the lathe again.

Pretty sure what you've actually made there is some miniature Ford XR2 wheels.

Right now, doing ANYTHING that move you one step forwards is a result I feel. You have done more than a great many people, congratulate yourself. Maybe you will do a bit more tomorrow. Like the man said, every day is a school day.
