Made a garden gate over the weekend to keep the wife happy as ours is starting to rot. I've not made any gates for years and I quite enjoyed this one. Not quite finished yet but it's 95% done

I hate painting so I will send it off to the galvanisers after a trail fit. If the perfumed one wants it painting then she will have to dig out her brushes and give it a once over!

high build vinyl will paint over new galve without weathering or mordant wash .manor paints do it

Needed a way to wash all the crud out of the bottom of the lathe gearbox ready for a oil change.
Got right to the bottom with a long artists brush but still some bits i couldn't get to.
So took a old Co2 extinguisher and some odd fittings and fashioned a rough and ready de-greasing air powered jet wash.


Fill with solvent charge with air open valve and away you go.
Used 6mm push fit on the end after the valve so you can change to different length hoses, depending on where you need to get to.

Actually the bottom shelf is reversed to leave space at the front for drilling holes to hold tailstock chucks.

I didn't make this so much as set it up, but an "ADS B recorder", I think that's what it's called. It's a Raspberry Pi 3 in dad's loft, connected to a big aerial strapped to the chimney to track the position of planes, not really sure why you'd want to but he does.

I don't know if it's actually contributing data to any bigger networks or if he needs to email anyone to get it connected but this is what it's recording right now.

Also not sure if anyone can open that link or if it'll only work on this wifi network, or if anyone can do anything nefarious from there should it open, could someone better informed let me know?

Not opening, think it will only be on his network as it is the normal 192.168.1.***

The link won't be reachable as the 192.168.x.x range is a private address space, non-routable over the internet.

I run a couple of ADS-B receivers and feed the data back to Flightaware - https://uk.flightaware.com/adsb/stats/user/galooph

The fun thing about running your own receiver is that you get to see the military traffic, which doesn't usually appear on the aggregated sites.

Thanks, I now have yet another project to add to a way to long project list. Looks interesting.

its actually quite fun to watch - my mum and dad used to sit and watch my flights when I was working away and keep tabs on me. Sometimes the plane is tracked minus the flight number and my Dad would ring to ask if I'd missed the flight :-)

Its better to contribute via 'the server' and don't be opening any ports on his router to allow direct connections.
