My landscape lads had this 21mtr x7mtr base to concrete for a log cabin, they normally use a wooden tamp but a 7.5 mtr tamp that wont sag in the middle is normally one big heavy mother. Ordered in some 70x40 and 40x40 box and made a braced lightweight jobby, worked well .

Mini Me has taken a leaf out of my book, she likes the new Lego kits.

She built it well, it is quiet accurate in the design.


I decided to make it for real, it didn't take long. I mean, they supply 4 axil stands in the kit.

I now show you the car in it's natural state.

Nothing metal related this time, making a garden swing in the form of a japanese style pergola.

I forgot to cut a profile on the diagonal supports before assembling the darn thing... That's what happens when you take a break in a project for a year. I made the sides and top arches last year, of which there are three, middle arch is not yet in place, 7 stretchers will be mounted across the arches and trellises on the sides.

A template and the jigsaw fixed the diagonal braces easily enough, had to topple the whole thing over though.

My fiance started painting it while I was working on that, using a homemade deck stain consisting of BLO, turpentine, pine tar and some red and brown pigments.

It was during the week but did some alu work to these boats. Replaced the plastic sheeting on the shooting table on the white one with Alu, replaced the alu tube edging on the bait box with bolt on flats so that they can be replaced when worn without having to weld and a few other bits and pieces.
Sheeting the table with the Alu was a bit trickier than normal because the plastic sheeting had caused quite bad pitting in the angle frame, must have been due to the plastic vibrating and constantly breaking the surface oxide layer.
Didn't get any pics as I was doing the welding as my phone was knackered and I just got a new one in time to take these snaps just before the boats went back in the water.

Further update on the wind turbine is - the landlord won't let him top the trees ,so no generation from south west to east,but he's getting the main westerlies ok ,but I don't think a 6 m mast is tall enough.

looked back in the thread and couldn't see mention of a wind turbine (I probably missed it tho)

for decent generation you're supposed to be 6m above anything else in the general area height is everything with wind turbines :-o

finally got round to making a bearing puller for the front wheel bearing of my car (and for putting the hub back into the bearing). the spacer (3rd from the left) is an old stainless steel exhaust tips, and lucky for me it is a perfect fit over the bearing housing. the nut (2nd from the left) has been bored out to be used as a spacer for pulling the hub into the bearing

I did try and make one a few years ago from 6mm steel plate and M16 studding, but the plates bent and the studding sheared. this time I went for a M20 high tensile bolt and 12mm steel plate.

Tapered latch & fittings for a beautiful oak gate( that I didn't make),there are hidden welds in the shaft of the handle,the back of the guide & the holed plate of the keep,otherwise it's all forged,the handle was a press fit into the 10 mm latch plate.

They must have had back ache? I've made and used wooden ones before including a 6m one last year and always make the handles at standing height and angled back. Really easy to use.

Good morning gents.
Posted this a couple of days ago, in the wrong place, thought someone might move it here but hasn't happened.
So whipped this up a few days ago as a last minute thing. It is a stand for a blast cabinet 1200mm wide by 750mm and hand rail is 1050 high and the base is 200mm off the ground.

Francis helped with this, she had been lonely up until this. She is very willing to do more

Turned down a couple of temperature sensor pockets to monitor the difference through the heat exchanger on my solar pool heating.

now you need to make some pegs to hold it down because as soon as you turn your back that little angel smiling at the camera will be using it like a play swing

Perhaps some holes drilled and rebar pounded into the ground to hold it down, we'll see, it's not that easy to get a good swing out of it.

I finished my drill stand today.

It's all made of the 2"x5" rafters I acquired a few days ago with some big mortise and tenons and some big deck screws, it's absolutely rock solid.

I think I'll swap the two drills over, the Pollard overhangs the Bisley cabinet and the Herbert is a bit small for the new stand.
