The Daf 66 (1972 to 1975) became the Volvo 66. The Daffodil was otherwise the 30/31/32, in production from 1961 to 1967. The 66 was a reworked 55 with mostly cosmetic improvements and changes to the power train.
The rear suspension and Variomatic was completely redesigned, learning from DAF's experience in Formula Three racing. The Variomatic was much more robust and now incorporated a differential for smoother low speed maneuvering. The unpredictable swing axle rear suspension of the 44 and 55 was changed to a leaf sprung De Dion tube axle, which greatly improved handling and comfort.

Daf enjoyed quite a bit of success in racing, rallying, autocross and rallycross. Their achievements in getting their two entered cars to the finish in the 1968 London to Sydney Marathon led to them producing a 55 and 66 model badged 'Marathon'. One of the successful cars entered again in the 93 event and again finished.

Sad they had the 'little old lady' image, they were better than that.

Well today episode
Trucks painted with the second coat of epoxy and now ready for top coat black urethane.

Now inbetween the two trucks is the tool box and brackets which got blasted and painted along with the chassis. All to be coated with black tomorrow, cleanup, pack and head home. Hopefully in that order.

Just an update, the continuing mission, again not today but yesterday. Didn't quite finish, ran out of black top coat 'goal posts got moved' About 1/3 of a chassis to go. However thankfully finished as was stuffed, climbing around and upside down. It takes about 4.5hours to paint one, cables, pipes, fittings not to mention the chassis and then is the cleanup. So was glad to go home, unpack the stuff I don't need, extra paint arranged today and back there on Monday. Should be simple 3hrs work and go home job completed, this time I hope

Thankyou arther dailey, alass but no. It was a get it on job as best as possible, knowing that all the wiring, piping and brackets get in the way. The biggest problem was painting upside down. The epoxy when first 'overspray' on the ground you can slide around like a dead maggot, but when it starts to gel it's like laying on sticky tape, then you have to peel your self off. When some one comes around and sees this, it's funny, however after the 50th time you do this you get over it, it wears you down. I sat on the empty paint tin to do the wash out and when I got up the paint tin lid came with me. I had to peel it of my ****, and people say you've got a perfect job. The old saying 'the grass is greener on the other side' IS NOT TRUE.

Ok, well it looks good, but now you have explained it,hmmmm. well when I refinished the chassis on my old iveco daily as it was my own the cables were all dropped of, everything that could be removed and or masked was, so yes I understand what you are saying, the one benefit you had(have) is you are working in a shed(roof) and on hard standing, I did mine in my field so had to wait for good weather, the reasons you give are exactly why I only work on my own vehicles, but if its a earning a living you gotta do what you gotta do eh.

There was no way the owner was going to pull the chassis apart for this. The purpose was to protect the chassis as best as possible from fertilizer residue. What they had done previously was just to thinner wipe down the chassis and paint it with Wurth stone chip black. Any rust or flaking paint was just covered, so what has been done here is far better prep and painting from the original.
Good from afar, but far from good, as some one had posted in some other post

That's the last of my free 2"x5" rafters gone, as well as a few overpriced packs of feather edge from Homebase. It's missing a back because it's going up against a fence and she (My lovely nan) was too tight to buy more wood

You should really leave space(s) for air to circulate between the stored wood to keep it dry anyway.

If it turns out to be a problem I can put some slats across the bottom to get a space underneath and stand it on some bricks/feet.
It'll mostly hold broken furniture and hacked up pallets so nothing wet, I think it'll be fine.

Not made this weekend, but planning more use for my horseshoes. I'm planning mounting the two versions back to front of a piece of wood/board so that it can be turned through 180o - I'll call it the Mood Barometer and it can be turned round outside a home or work place if you're expecting visitors to give them advance warning of the reception they're likely to receive..... Still have to decide if they're going to have ears, ifso it'll me a chance to bend some thin bar accordingly. Some fine shaping to do yet and still have to work out how the centre elements are to be secured -thinking fine rod to look like glasses for the eyes and maybe just a rod at the mouth which could act as the swivel for turning it, we'll see. Not at all in the class of some of the work seen here, but it's a start, and please excuse poor phone pics





Future ones might all be 'happy' and used as door knockers, for example.

Yeah, the (untreated) wooden gravel board has rotted through and slumped into the garden though so I couldn't put it right against the fence if I wanted to.

For the ears, I cut about 20mm off the tips of the shoe and re-weld back on the opposite side, I do the same with my owls, And I'v made quite a lot of both,
