I didn't cast them myself, I must admit. Harling Foundries did the job for me but took 3 1/4 years to get round to doing them. Well, I did say there was no hurry. Great people and I'll use them again.

Just need to finish off the grinding out and polishing. £35 plus vat each. Not bad.

Also did this mast today and just finished fitting it so home time
Made from 40mm x 40mm x 2mm stainless with 25mm round tube cross bars which were salvaged from the old one.

who has the pattern or the original casting

got these cast today I made the pattern and brother cast them in his furnace its for a regulating valve for one of my blasting pots

Faced and bored out a 200mm dia strainless roller to accept bearings rather than the nylon bush that was in it. Groove worn by rope was also filled up, took 4 passes with 3.2mm rods and needed 25 of them

No distortion, just blattered them in one after the other, plenty of bulk in the roller.

First pass didn't quite clean them up.

So another 0.5mm off

Ready to be oiled up so they don't rust before they are needed.

No,just have it programmed to take a single pass, if it doesn't clean up then I offset the Z axis by 0.5mm and run again etc etc until they are cleaned up. Some plates take 4 passes, some only 1, depends how worn they are and also can depend on the hauling set up on the boats, the ones with roller systems tend to wear one plate a lot more than the other one.

My landscape lads need to knock in over one thousand of these 40x40x450 wooden stakes across a field to retain some timber edges , they have to leave 150mm out of the ground for the board. I made up a heavy slide hammer that retains the peg, its now a one man opp without having to bend down or trust the other guy with a sledge Works a treat, three good clumps and they are in . Just need to find some foam for the handles.

Use pipe lagging on the handles.
We had something similar for driving in earth spikes. The supplied handles would fail in a day.
Pipe lagging keep and simple.

Past few days me and another have been busyinig ourselves with some stainless handrail stays.
Comprising of
3# 38mm tubes
2# 45° bends
1# 90° bend
a small self made washer and a 55mmx12mm pin.

Take washer. Weld pin both sides with 50mm protruding. Attach to one tube.
Polish up welds on pedestal flapwheel. Finish off with scotchbrite in "un-health and safety manner"

Marvel at difference.

Make up two sections for ease of polishing, attach all 3 together.
