I’ve had a door knob that’s been a bit wobbly for a while and it’s been annoying me. Very old worn lock, unusual sized knob so not easy to just buy a replacement.
Also fancied having a play with the mill now it’s working.

my two cents worth. Skinned the punt today


Both hull plates tacked and fully welded in, both side plates and transom completed. Good progress today, but the big items (hull plates)always make it look like the job is moving along very well! We have the keel cover to weld in, the two planing strakes and the doubler plates for the hull at the front, to do tomorrow and hope fully turn it back over in the afternoon. By the way 'Francis' performed well today

There is something about an aluminium boat that appeals to me - probably the very clean lines that they have. Would love to see more photos as the job develops.

It's something I want to do one day. I have a very similar dory in fibreglass that I built in a mould some thirty years ago, but I really like the idea of building one with aluminium.

What grade of ali sheet do you use? - is it a special marine grade or just 'ordinary' grade?

I'm assuming you built it over wood/mdf frames to hold the shape?

Hope it’s never needed, but I think I would put a flat return at the top. The way it is now you run the risk of diverting high pressure fluid and fittings up and into the operators face

They are protected by a big acrylic shield, this one is just for the hands when they need to adjust settings and re-torque. You're right about the danger of fluid jets, nasty wounds to heal when surgeons have made their job.

Looking on the 3D printing forum reading some information about updates via a link I noticed that Fusion will now allow you do wrap around a cylinder printing so you could run up a slide over band with such details ... It might last a lot longer than the dymotape . Certainly a thing I'm going to explore when I make the time as we have a fair few identical trigger spray packs that don't let you stick a label on as the plastic is so greasy.

I made a mess of the stainless exhaust.

Plastic bag blowing around the garage managed to wrap itself round the main pipe after it had just been for a run and been heated up. Plastic had a burning plastic stench for a while.

Then it was time to break out the scraper and heat gun once the exhaust cooled down enough to touch.

Right PITA to get off this stuff but with patience and a mug or two of tea i scraped off most that can be seen in the picture and another path.

All cleaned up with a few tiny spots that hopefully can sort themselves out

Looking at the photos now not sure if the rear diff is leaking seem to have a wet spot around that bolt and copper washer. Will have to have a look at that next

Yesterday we reduced a tree to logs and wood chip


And today i was given a new project to straiten my winch after it was ran over.



One of them days, chipper blade bolt wouldn't play first thing, no spares on hand chainsaws kept playing up aswell. Ho hum

Update on the bowl, bottom came out lovely. Top and sides not as good. Turns out, when using a slow curing resin and brass powder, the brass powder will of course settle to the bottom
Had to do it in 2 pours because of leakage. anyway, made some mess today taking more out the bottom and then sanding, it drank quite a lot of danish oil after that.
