Yesterday I was asked to make a box to house a 3kVA portable generator so I measured up, did a model in fusion and ordered a sheet af 5mm Aluminium.

Today I got the Alu on the plasma table and cut up.

Not much left over.

The bits.

Then out with the Mig to stick it together.

The base.

The top done as well and box completed.

You've done it wrong then!
You need it secured in with numerous fasteners, ideally with one or two hidden out of sight, and a few that you can see but can't access which make you wonder how they fitted it in the first place :-)

PS. I may be a bitter about these things, having spent far too much time doing simple things like changing oil, which could have been a 5 minute job, except the bodybuilders decided to do things like fully enclose the drain plug, then position the oil filler in towards the chassis, so it takes two of you to unbolt the housing to drag it out to put oil back in.

Nope, I made it right because it may be me who has to do any servicing on it in the future

Not strictly "made today" but I've made five of these over the past few weeks for the missus. She loves gardening but constantly bending and reaching out is getting difficult for her - so we are moving some of the garden up to "waist height" for her.

It's good so far mate, I have only done a couple of jobs with it but it knocks spots off the Blaser Swisslube.
Okay, with the Blaser you could clearly see what was going on and great for video's, but it took that much blue paint off I started looking like a Smurf! And sticky as hell, found myself going up to the house to rinse my hands. This just wipes off with a rag and so far no staining at all.

The other day I got a large 1941 Brass Paraffin Brazing torch.
I got it fully working, but the NRV valve was giving me a lot of trouble.

Again Top marks to Mike and Amanda at Base Camp for more Great and perfect service.



They supplied the parts to get it working correctly. Turns out modern parts do not beat old parts.
Plus they supplied 2 new springs.

One stroke will provide 1lb of tank pressure.

So, today (and yesterday) I was making little chess pieces, okay, maybe they are not chess pieces but they could be. Actually it is a product I make and not one but two biggish orders came in in one week so two days in front of the lathe. I enjoy it actually but my body protests.

This one has been a long term project.
The plan was to hunt Car boots and places like that to find the missing burner.



This one was a real puzzle. The original burner head was replaced, by adding a Male insert. But both of them were lost.



You can see the Male insert on top of the tank.

But RHS you can see a Primos adaptor to take a Burnmos Burner. A rare, but not unknown modification.

You can see attempt/part No2 to get a burner.




Wow.
One fast hot jet. Few seconds after catching it was roaring away.

I need to say to a good person: Any more power cuts?

New needle, cleaning jet and graphite seal.

Back together. This is the stove in which the cleaning needle and jet turned into a paste like material.

A custom wiring loom to take the input from this old accelerator pedeal into a generic connector then take it to the right ECU ports. All with the help of the pin diagram which i am just managing to wrap my head around now after actually using it for something it all starts to make a bit of sense.

Slow at first but do pick the pace up as you understand how to follow it.

They look like buffer parts, a bit like Daniel was suggesting using on the new schmeisser straight pull.
