I did one for a neighbor a while ago, it was an over door for security,
This one was clad with 5 bar aluminium tread plate, but you could use barley seed pattern which is a lot less industrial

Thanks for that Paul, I want to keep it in keeping with the look of my garage so I’ll find some wood to clad it with. I may do it like my shed. I’ll see.

A gable frame for supporting a large window on a new house,attaches to this 10.5 m beam,clear span top floor,runs along the ridge line.

Machined a bushing so this plywood wheel would be a snug fit for my half inch bench grinder shaft , then just sanded and turned wheel true so I could apply buffing compound

This makes a quick way to sharpen knives axes chisels etc to a mirror finish with little effort

Maybe not as good as all these fancy Japanese katana spec whetstones but gets tools far sharp enough for me

Get some rouge. Really finishes them. A good pal of mine uses diamond paste to good effect.

cheers will try that out , these arent quite shaving sharp but may be compound may be user skill.

Made this door the other day, dropped it in for galvanising Tuesday night and had it back and fitted today very pleased. Just need to establish how I’m going to clad it now.

You could try some of that resin plywood for trailers, it might give it a contrast/ modern look with some silver hardware.

@Hood what about making up a removable water tank so you can test run the engines off the boat too.. you'd only need one, easy enough to add, give you more options later.....

Finished an occasional table foe sale by my local men's shed. All the steel barring the "carpet-friendly" feet is reclaimed from old balustrading and scrollwork that was donated/acquired.

With that layout scribing, I was waiting for Vetruvian Man to make his appearance.

Quick rack as I’m fed up of tools everywhere.

Plasma’d then had to adjust with grinder as it seems all Milwaukee m12 are not created equal :/

May even paint it before I stick it on the wall

TYA wax for tools.
This bee's wax is from 2 hives, last year left in a wild meadow area of a local farm. No true smell, but it is a hard wax.



The honey is removed by a spinning frame, the wax scraped off and melted, by the double pan method and cast into blocks.
Take away containers.

Here you see the wax smashed into blocks and white spirit.



Melting it, slow, must be slow.

Allow to cool.




Soft to apply, hard finish tool wax.

That's not all the wax from 2 hives, just some of it.

A few weeks ago I got this matched pair od oden Floor board clamps.



They worked, were complete, but have had a hard life. 70ish years old. So someone had their money worth.



This does not show how much of a fight they put up to come to bits. But only one part failed on both.
The spilt pin holding the cam shell jaw to the pivet pin.
It is in the picture.
We needed heat, coffee, hammers, pullers, a bad word, punches, pliers, a stamping foot(Cramp as pulling a gear off struck, when it was red hot.)heat, lots. Oil, more punches, smaller hammers, another puller, a cold chisel, a file and a cold beer.



Baking dry, after soaking in citric acid, last night and this morning I dumped the fluid and replaced it with warm washing sodar mix and kept it heated to get the oils out.



Assembled.
The holes for the shafts were honed out, with a old gun barrel last.
Lots of grease in the assembly. The surplus will be removed.



The cam shell clamp was dressed with a oil stone to remove the burrs from the teeth.
The pins for the gears were heated to bright red, left to cool in sand. This softened them to allow the ends to burr over, as they were built, locking the gears.




Waiting to be waxed.

The paint is a Holts rattle can, ford colour range.

So I got 2 silver spoons the other day.



Both Hall marked, just been to last to check it out.

Both needed a clean.
But I was being lazy.

So we hatched a plan.



Why not, the man in The Repair shop said it worked.



It does.


A few hard to get of marks, need some jewellers rouge to remove them, more time in the solution.



In use, today.

So any one wants to give me their family silver I will look after it.

Silver? Or plated?

The green corrosion points towards a copper layer, which would suggest plated.
There are some plated items which have, not quite "fake", but "easily misinterpreted", shall we say? stamps.

Silver, hall mark says so.
The green is from the copper pipe it was under.
I do like to rummage in box's at salvage yards.
Where there is muck, there is brass.

Beside, if it was plated, after that cleaning metod it would not be shinnnnnnnnny, or in use.

Bought one of the lasered 10mm worktops from @MattH and wanted some clamps that would go in the tooling holes.

They seem to be asking stupid money for them so made my own out of the cheapest F Clamps I could find and some M16 Shoulder bolts.

Worked out about 4 quid a clamp and they work very well so I'm happy.
