Hand drilling holes in brick and stone.Whats the name and purpose for this type of chisel , I picked one up a while ago at a car boot mainly just for the steel
I'd never seen one before and i've been in the building game 35+ years
This is a Star drill made by "Star Drill USA"I only know them as a masonry drill. Hit. Turn. Hit. Turn.
Rawl sold them. I have a couple of my dads old ones. Handy if you hit a solid bit or a stone in a wall and the battery drill struggled.
Their size range from 1/4" to 3" size and the length varies.Star or Jumper chisel is what I know them as.
An aspen bowl, the outside ebonised with a steel wool in vinegar mix; I knew it worked well with oak as it has high tannin levels but had no idea it would work this well with aspen. Wanted to maintain contrast between inside and outside but had to turn and sand the inside again as it got everywhere! I knew it worked well with oak but didn't know it would work this well with aspen.

Excuse the crap photos; it was such a bright day and I'd just put another coat of tung oil on it!
You sure you knew it worked well with oak
That'll be why you told us twiceYup! Green oak shavings have always turned my tools and bed of the lathe black; only found out by accident that it happened to work on the aspen too when I got a drop on a partially turned bowl.
