@Hood what about making up a removable water tank so you can test run the engines off the boat too.. you'd only need one, easy enough to add, give you more options later.....

Not needed, they have plastic barrels they use for that.

Bench mods tonight.

Made a frame so the bandsaw sits level with the main bench, absolutely no new materials were used in its construction, there's plasma off cuts, cow brush off cuts and a muck spreader floor slat all in there.

Next job was making a removable holder for the tube roller, 2 pto shaft off cuts for this job.

Today finished my pedestal for a bench grinder.

Rebuilt the rotator /log Turner,with 1 new bearing and housing,as the driven sprocket was out of alignment with the driver I counterbored it 3 mm ,hope fully stop the chain snapping .ill try and remember to photograph it installed in the saw bed,the saw itself is a belter.

Today I made a rack for my AXA tool holders. I used a piece of scrap 18mm ply and the blocks that @Dr.Al sent me November last. (If you make any more I could use some )

I just need to find a spot on the wall to mount it.

Also another couple of offcuts were used to mount my ER collet board. It had been taking up drawer space and was a pain to get to every time I needed a collet. Now they're right to the mill and close to my lathe.

Made some piles of stainless, and also made some holey plates. (had help with the plates). 20mm bad Bois, way overkill, 12 would have done... But we paid someone else to make that decision!

Today I made some holes disappear and fitted a new lock to my recently acquired top box.



the lock was kaput and it looked like it had had a hasp and staple self tappered on,
got a couple of Lowe and fletcher cam locks of fleabay with nice machined bits on

cut and drilled and filled a bit of stainless

epoxyed and clamped to the front of the box ,I might paint it red or just leave as is

only real pain was when it's unlocked you couldn't remove the key so a bit of filling on the key lug sorted that
I didn't really need it to be locking as it's just for home but thought it would tidy it up a bit.

when I get time I'll pull all the drawers as some of the rubber draw retainers need looked at.

Put a steel plate behind the wood strips ...... for security as strips can easily & quietly be removed by any number of methods.

That's not all the wax from 2 hives, just some of it.

Add for those that don't know ........ the volatile oils from bees wax are highly flammable & at hotter than boiling water temps can/will self ignite , use a non flame heat source such as an electric hot plate & a Bain Marie set up and don't leave it unattended for any reason unless you turn the heat off and move the containers to a cooler surface out of strong sunlight .

Plus years of beekeeping .....
If you melt good newish wax or are uncapping sealed stores on a warm day over 50 oC, a gentle soft breeze & with the room's windows & doors open you might get zillions of bees coming to investigate the honey & oil scents released ....

Like wot I did when I had 24 hives within 100 yards of my open door honey room in my cellar.

Silver, hall mark says so.
The green is from the copper pipe it was under.
I do like to rummage in box's at salvage yards.
Where there is muck, there is brass.

Beside, if it was plated, after that cleaning metod it would not be shinnnnnnnnny, or in use.

So what are the hallmarks? I can look them up in my Bradbury hallmark book which will give the year and maker and assay mint where it was made

Do you bait it with anything? Just wondering what makes them go in. I’ve seen ones for wasps with beer in.

The black ball gets hot and horse flies are attracted to dark hot things, they see in IR I believe. Probably reminds them of a horses ass... To boot they have this behaviour that when they launch they always go upwards first, getting trapped in the cone until they make their way into the bucket. That's the idea anyway I will have to see how it works. It's basically a copy of a commerical model though.
