Today I made some progress on turning this table saw trolley I made a while ago:

Into this:

and this:

and (along with another length of box section and some flat bar) from thence into this:

The new trolley (which will probably gain some drawers in the bottom bit) allows the table saw to be parked on its end like this:

which in turn allows me to take it on an obstacle course down the garden path and across the lawn and put it in the shed like this:

Thus freeing up quite a lot of space in the garage. It still needs more stuff doing to it (including the drawers, but also some other welded additions probably) before it gets painted (and this time I probably will paint it as the shed is a little bit more prone to corrosion than the garage.

Today I mostly made a stainless exhaust

needs finished but it’ll be ready for the morning for him. I got low on argon so ended up miggin it. For this application it’ll be fine.

What's the Bosch saw like; Good, so-so? Read varying reviews on them. I was becoming tempted by one, last winter.

It cuts well and seems good to me. It would probably be better (in the "I can spend more money on accessories" sense of the word "better") if it had standard size slots, but it doesn't cause me too many issues in practice. I rarely (if ever) use the mitre thingy - for any cuts that aren't parallel (and hence based on the fence), I use my cross-cut sled. That means the fancy sliding table is a bit pointless for me, but I can see how it would be useful for others. The fence needed some upgrades (kindly 3D printed for me by @tflnemesis), but with those modifications it works very well, although I'm not exactly a connoisseur of such things. I'm sure it's not a patch on a proper cabinet saw, but then that wouldn't fit in my shed, would it?!

It works! Need to play with speed and feed but this was 0.8mm deep, 400rpm. From a couple test cuts the longest chips were inch long worms and the shortest were little c's

Not today, not by me.

But I got permission to post this small project.
Last weekend a MIS Metal melt was stopped.
One member who has mental health issues took this in a bad way.

But I had an idea, this bulb trowel was kicking around for a few weeks.

So.



As it was.



But a quick clean up, showed the metal was good, but the handle was shot.
Dry rot.

So I heaved it into the bin of jobs to do.

Step up MIS member.



A old handle cleaned up, stained and waxed.

The metal was polished with a B&D drill and Wolf polishing mop.

Finally.



Yes we did straighten the bend out.

I made several piles of rust on the floor. This is only one of them!

Working on an old catering trailer, and everything is covered in a greasy coating, which stinks when you grind through it to get to bare metal. Chip fat doesn't appear to stop the floor of a trailer from rusting!

Veg oil chip fat is hygroscopic, so it attracts water.

Hence why you have to "dry" it when making "Biol fuels."

My son bought me an Ender 3 v2. No problems yet. So far I have printed the obligatory octopus, two stacking crates for AA batteries and four pads for my Bessey clamps. It even forced me to tidy my desk.

Turned this into something nice.



Should be a nice simple job, a few tools, bit of paint, coffee, bit of brass work and it will be done.

Bolt holding the water screamer snapped.

Drilled out and a 1/4 UNC taped ran down to clean it out.
Well drill and heat, with an square cut easy out had it out.
I brazed on a bit of 1/4UNC to the original bolt to make a repair.



Then I boiled the body and screamer in caustic soda and set to on the brass.
Few coats of paint.

I need a er25 nut spanner. I was going to grind it out of O1 but I had this slice of bar, I thought quicker to turn/drill most of it. The er40 tailstock means I can hold my 24mm drill offcut.

The mt2 is not really adequate, it was trying to spin - it was at this moment my foot switch failed "on"

Maybe make a 'reaction bar' that will bear on the cross slide for these demanding applications. Have a look at (mill) tapping heads or tailstock die holders for the concept. At a pinch, an adjustable spanner on the flats on the ER chuck would do. You would need two spanners, one for imperial drills and the other for metric.
