Does covering it up actually cure it ! or did you carry out other works to solve the damp issue .

The damp was in the fire place which had been bricked up in the 60's using rubble and plaster they had bridged the damp course, so digging it all out and adding a few coats of tanking slurry then making access for it to breathe under the floor might help.

Shortened bolts, took some effort but they are 12.9's. Couldnt hold them in collets to turn due to length. Shortened the head and the grade turned very nice.

Fitted with temporary m8 studs.

What to chuck up...?

Feels 100x more secure than anything in the old chucks.

Odd thing is the stepped side of jaws are quite flat, seems to have a reasonable contact but usually they are radiused for two points of contact.

That's so that the part can be trued up. If it was making two points of contact on each jaw you might struggle to bump the face into square. Always use copper sacrificial pieces on anything I don't want to mark.

Got the gate pillar caps we cast on just now. Mortar for the second one was a bit sloppy so the beds a bit thin there but hey ho. Lovely and hot when we started then ended up rushing because of the lightning! Second mix too was half builders half plastering sand as I ran out of builders sand.

Drip bead detail seemed to work!

I like this chuck!
Been tripping over this offcut. Found a use for it.

I cocked up the bore its looser than I wanted but good enough. Recess for 13/16" and 38mm dies. Could make it double ended but Im thinking better to make adaptors for inch and 30mm.

Made some of this lot a bit smaller, ready for next year when the GB circuit breaker trips from all the heat pumps and milk floats being plugged in!

Our wee village has more and more holiday homes now, with only three permanent residents in a row of old miner's cottages opposite our narrow drive; the one directly opposite the entrance came so far in I genuinely thought it was a delivery driver...

I continued recycling the spark eroder I stripped recently. 32mm wall thickness Cast iron. The things you do when you have a forklift and a decent size bandsaw.

Landed up with a nice L shaped lump to make a new jaw for the bandsaw vice.

Part of an espresso machine, don't know what its called but the old one was a bit corroded for my liking. It bolts to the grouphead and the shower screen screws onto it. The holes around the edge are for water to pass through, six is easier to mark out than four.
