It was going well until I found a dirty great hard ring. Tons of noise and chatter, got through it, but thrown the face and OD well out. Having some lunch before I clock again and finish off the bore.Started on the small one, it turns lovely. OD and face turned, now to start on the bore.

After some friends saw what I did with one in the past. They wanted one.
So I had spares.
One is going to Scotland and one to Israel.
I wonder which one will get there first.
The chains were de-greased with engine cleaner and then "Meths."

The brazed on.
Could be, but I dont think I were putting much heat in. It was exactly like the weld bead. The surface did not look welded at that diameter so who knows.S355 is high strength structural steel but stil low carbon. Normal strength is S275.
You say it's 10mm deep but it might be that you're re-hardening it every pass. Of course you could be perfectly right it might have a higher-carbon layer rolled into the plate.
Don't forget to link if you find some amazon bargain spiral flutes!More backplate. The spindle has clearance holes for m10 so it seems silly to use m8, but I dont have any suitable studs or nuts. First time using the Zoro spiral point tap and it is good! Im going to order some more spiral taps, they work far better than taper/second/bottom sets.

This inserts too big and wont break chips on a fine cut. Dont have a LH holder for the small ones.

Small ones break chips ok..
A bit more, got a bit confused on speeds as the pulley was slipping, Ive moved it over to the big pulley then had it far too slow. Bumped the speed back up to 700 and its much nicer.
Smashed one of these tiny inserts being greedy with depth and feed
That is a good collection of tea strainersMostly made food stuff today. We bought a steam juicer (a common finnish household item). This year we'll have a decent harvest of black currants, maybe the red currants might be saved too if we get rain soon.
