New printer

Bought specifically for the build volume to be able to print inlays for systainer style cases.

Quite impressive these modern printers, no fettling needed or anything, don't even have to set the first layer height, just press 'print' and off it goes. Took 30 hrs and 1,5kg of filament to print this.

Oil can holder. Now it can't be knocked over as long as it actually gets put away.

For those that do not have printers cut a three or four inch length of waste pipe that the can or oil jar pot will easily fit into drill two or 3 hole one one face vertically so they will allow a big screw head to pass through , on the diametrically opposite side drill smaller mounting holes to match and also drill the same size where you want to mount the holder , put a long screw or threaded rod across the bottom or use cable ties to mount the tube and a cable tie for the floor stop .

What are they anyway, some kind of pump looking at the pair or gears?

Position encoders in a dust proof housing, this print was 20% infill the standard setting in prusa slicer.

Will look into making the print more economical... I'm sure it would be plenty strong without infill with all the curves in the design, but how would the top layer be printed then since there is no support from below?

Anyone have experience with this?

Make a top and bottom half shell insert for the case , two half shells that will suspend the items securely on shaped supports in several places of contact ??? Unused areas that do not carry weight can be a simple very thin net mesh of 20 mm or so ?
Use a carpet style fixing spray contact glue in the case lid & bottom to set the two half supports to the case or painstakingly paint the contact faces of the support bases by hand , roller or use a super sticky double sided thin tape carefully cutting out unwanted tape with a scalpel .

It mostly depends on the printer and the filament.
Short bridges are generally OK, but longer bridges can either print perfectly well, or be a total disaster, even between two seemingly identical prints.

Personally for the likes of what you've printed, I'd still print some form of infill, but maybe at only 5 or 10%.
It's most likely worth experimenting in the slicer with different infill types, to see how they affect print time.

And if there are any specific areas you could do with some additional support, put some small holes in the model, so it forces the slicer to generate walls around those holes for additional support.

My PIR lanterns, the PIR modules on both went t!ts up. Got a couple of cheap as, generic Chinese ones. Making a housing to clip on the front of the existing lanterns and be easily removable fof adjustment. A bit bulbous but the housings will be done in black with a few frilly bits to match the lantern. Test one in PLA:

Apparantly the lightning infill is exactly for this purpose, it does not ad any structural integrity only provides a support for the top horizontal layer, using the lighting infill reduced filament usage from 1,5kg to 1,03 kg and print time from 30hrs to 23hrs.

Especially the 1.03 kg of spool usage is very convenient for me as I use 1,1 kg rolls of pla, so no time wasted swapping rolls halfway through a print, top layer quality is slightly less but still very usable.
