Not just today as that lot is representative of around 35 hours of printing it's just missing the eye balls which will get printed tomorrow.
Oh and yes some of the screws need changing but it is a work in progress.
It will be an animated set of eyes, not my design, it comes from the imagination of James Bruton!

I recently bought a 1975 CompuChron LED watch for spares or repair. On removing the module (made by the Hughes Aircraft company) I discovered the plastic frame hadn't survived the 48yrs - you can see multiple cracks and it literally falls apart when handled. The frame needs a bit of strength as it has to withstand button push pressure.


I managed to glue the cracks so I could model it F360, at this point I could have 3D scanned it but it's quite simple so a good photograph is all that's needed to trace over.

An hour or so later and the model is complete.

It's then just a matter of adding supports ready for ptinting...

Results are very nice with minimal cleanup required.


And the main circuit board fits very well...

Is the print held off the bed at an angle? why would you not print it flat on the bed? just trying to learn!

It's a very good question, there's pro's and cons for printing directly on the bed as opposed to 'on supports'. The main problem is you tend to get 'elephant's foot' affecting the first few layers - this is where the layers are over exposed and are larger than designed - kind of like a flange which would need to be manually removed if affecting critical dimensions (as in this case). The other problem is damage to the part removing it from the bed. The main benefit in printing flat is reducing print time from 2h40m to just 40m.

Currently printing. It is a bracket for a display conversion. Kenwood R-1000. This is about the 5th iteration of it as I keep getting the measurements wildly wrong for some reason.

I am confused. probably more now since I edited the quote. You say you are very happy with the printer but in another thread you cant use it now. Just intrigued that all.

Because of my general health problems. I can't stand for more than a few minutes and some days not at all. My hands no longer have the articulation or grip so things like lathe work are difficult. I want to go CNC as it is easier for me.

I understand now mate. Sorry I had missed your current health situation.

Good luck with the CNC I have had one (CNC router) for 24 months and its not cut in anger yet.

my prusa mk3s melted the hot end holder... not sure how that happened, guessing it overheated

ordered new bits from prusa directly... noticed they have a mk4 now... so ordered one

took weeks to turn up but it arrived last week, bought the assembled one instead of the kit (oddly it was shorter delivery time)

it's..... really really good

worked perfectly straight out of the box and it's fast, really fast

I didn't think to recorded it for here, but I was printing a couple of bits for a mate and sent him some whatsapp videos

flat thing is a panel fil in / vent / fan mount thing for his coms cabinet where his ccev server goes, long thin thing is a shipping container air vent



it's on 'speed' not 'quality' but the quality is better then I'm used to, not tried it on quality setting yet

all in ABS - the black ABS was a different brant I tired a while back and couldn't get it to stick to the bed with the mk3

guess I need to tweek some temps to get the normal nice glossy surface on the bed, a wipe over with acetone will do for me
