That's a really clean finish - you can barely see any layer lines. Is that just a lot of wet & dry sanding, etc, or have you coated it with something?

Thanks, that's how it came off the printer. First time in years I have used PLA since I needed bone colour. Dialed in the settings (0.16 layer height) but paid particular attention to orientation in printing, using organic tree support.

Some of the earlier attempts were a disaster! The skull was embedded in my goto (PETG) setting for "normal, snug" support.

Would have been easier to carve a skull from solid plastic than dig that thing out of there (I did eventually though).

Agree it does look pretty damned smooth.

Got a bit more done to the laser enclosure. With rotation I managed to print the backing piece that is 320mm long. This proof of concept way of design may be slow but it is fun

Thank you. That gives me ideas for my set of parallels which were super cheep to the extent they came in a cardboard box.

I needed some work tables with 78mm height to match the sewing machine, but the tallest I could find was 75mm. Not

Tweaked the dimensions again and printed the finished pair of these in ASA. They're adapter rings to mount LED daylight running lights into some spare holes in the front bumper of an old MX5.

(Yes, they're high enough to be legal - just!)

Looks like the K1 MAX is now finally outperforming the Ender 3 V2 that I upgraded. I have printed 10 of these module cases with almost no stringing, six times faster than the Ender could manage.

I designed and printed some small clamps for the laser. Then decided to have a go at embedded magnets so designed a box to put them in.
The process is simple, add a pause at the relevant height and push them in the recess and press resume
Really pleased with the results.

Saw something like this in my YouTube feed and decided to make one.

Apologies for the crazy colours but it helps to show how it works. Very simple in theory but sizing the gears for 3d printing is horribly compromised. I may have to scale up the gears and change the ratios.

It's sort of an educational fidget. I'll put some numbers on it so that the cheeky chap it's being made for can see for himself what "quarter past" or "half past" means in this day and age of digital clockery. He also likes to play with gears. It's printing now but the teeth are microscopically small to try and keep the thing down to 100mm diameter ish.

I may completely change tack and make a full differential/planetary system if this doesn't work.
