Electronic workbenches "back in the day " of soldering irons many times had a fan to blow the fumes away.

It doesn't work always, but if you squeeze the air out of the tube, then tighten the cap you might get lucky.

No unless it's an expensive brand in a fancy bottle and I don't leave it more than a few weeks. Loctite etc.

Hence I typically buy a cheap blister pack in bargain shops and expect one use per tube.

Storing in an airtight bag in the fridge is supposed to help. I've found keeping the nozzle pointed down seems to stop the thing from setting solid, for a short while anyway.

If you buy decent stuff yes, most of my decent bottles last 2-5 years.

I know a guy who opened a tube of super glue on a hot day in his shed.

It squirted out and into his eye. He then rubbed his eye which subsequently led to him gluing his fingers, eyelid and eye together!

Be warned on that!! I always remember that when opening tubes. He had to be taken to hospital with hand in place under extreme pain and needed laser eye surgery etc after

I had super glue squirt directly into my eye when I was a kid, trying to fix a puncture on my bicycle - you can guess the rest...Genius
As well as the chemical pain to my eyeball it set solid to the inside of my eyelid which meant everytime I blinked it scored the eye. Back then nearest hospital that could deal with was 50 miles away, felt like eternity.

However I have never tried to fix a puncture like that again, or hit a railway track detonator with a hammer (more genius)

Yes, we had some bottle like loctite comes in, lasted a few years.

just leave in fridge without a bag works . makes it last a few month longer but it still goes stiffer and looses its strength

Back in the day I used to sell a very large amount of those ratchet and pawl kits. They seemed to be a weakness on all of the Fords at that time.

Fitted a lot of those.

I dont mis being upside down feet over the back of the seat hands tucked up under the dash then dropping the tools so have to extricate yourself to pick it up.

Some people can't smell as much as others, count it as a blessing.
Some paint smells make me visit the bathroom in about 30 minutes, I physically get sick.

Chlorinated rubber floor paint nearly killed me at work, I couldn't breathe and had to stay home till the smell had cleared. I can't say I can smell ordinary superglue though I have some Elastoplast superglue for skin application which is quite strong odour. I bought some pound shop superglue in a 3 pack small plastic bottles with thin nozzles and a pin to clear them with. I've had it about 4 years and still only half way down the first bottle and it's still viable.

Yeah likewise - fitted loads and loads! I developed quite a good technique in the end, but I forget exactly how I did it now - something about lifting the pedal to release the ratchet when refitting the cable i think

Superglue fumes arent too bad when the glue is minding it's own business fresh out of the tube e.g. a drop on a screwdriver blade that's being used as an applicator. It's when the polymerisation reaction starts going, that the fumes can get a bit nasty. It does seem to depend on how much of a "glue line" is showing. e.g. if repairing a piece of china, the fumes aren't too bad, but I tried hardening some fabric on a zip a few weeks back, to try and get it to engage the teeth properly (it worked), but the fumes were really irritating to the eyes. Not sure whether it's a reaction product, as such, or the heating effect of the reaction that releases more vapour. According to the chemistry, there is no reaction product apart from the cyanoacrylate polymer.

I’ve got a bottle of Draper superglue which is at least 4 years old and though it’s just been sat in the top of a toolbox it’s still as good as the day I opened it.

I store superglue in the fridge. Since I started doing that, about 20 years ago, I've rarely had any go dry or solid, except when one was left for a couple of years.

Head to your local modelshop.

Zapp is good, most of them stock it. I usually use the thin wicking grade stuff myself. Although if you're used to normal poundshop stuff be careful as it's like water and kicks off in seconds.

I used to use a lot when wood turning, If a bowl had a void I would fill it with brass powder and use super glue. that would create alot of fumes. I used a fan to keep it away

That's why they come in such tiny tubes, single use I thought.
Once you get glue on the cap thread, it's all over, it's doing what it's designed to.
