Are not old fashioned candles tallow ? Not the posh bee's wax ones obviously.Does Tallow go rancid and smell after use, where it will get on machine and tools?
That is a point about smell and smoke, my tiny shed doesnt yet have any extraction, so I have ro open the door. Better if the smoke is not too toxic or smelly!

It's no different to linseed oil. That hardens over time.lathe back in 2015 and 6 months later found it turns to a sticky goo, though it doesnt smell. I imagined tallow once used might smell.

A similar hazard exists here , but the addition of anti - scuff paste confuses the badgers sense of smell...And I quote from another source...

I used to use Rocol. Now I have some CRC90 - a tub of the paste and a bottle of the oil. Great stuff.
