I reckon you could possibly fix that by introducing a 3rd board and connect to the good parts surrounding the burnt out pcb, looks like that was a bad connection that caused it by the damage on the cable
its one for skotl to play withI reckon you could possibly fix it by putting in two new boards.
It looks to me as if there's a few components there which have gone bang and which are likely to be a few quid each at least. This may have been cause by a fault elsewhere which still exists. I don't think I'd take this one on even were it a gift.
Also it would help to have a circuit diagram at least. I know some GYS manuals are around on the WWW but I'm, not sure about this model.
don't forget to tell em your emigrating as well just in case they pay u a visit and lean on u for there bread backJust remember to replace that missing screw...... Oh, and make sure you add "sold as seen" and "no returns on this item" to the auction ad.
PMed mateFlippin shame Darren, that one board looks worse than knackered. I can ask Phil from GYS if he can find any PCB's for it for you?
We could always do splitsys on anything you need for it if you reckon you can get it going?
cant say fairer then thatJust a note - I understand some are claiming I've "fiddled" Darren by claiming that I've never opened this machine.
I genuinely haven't opened the machine, screws were missing when I bought it.
I explained that when I had powered the machine up that it had some popping noise and I've never bothered with it since as I just ain't got the time or the know how and he don't have in house engineers at work.
I've offered Darren his money back, which he knows he's still welcome too, and I've offered to help out sourcing any parts he needs.
I know I had a shakey start on the forum by not making it clear who I was but I like to take pride in the being 100% honest with friends, which I class Darren as along with a lot of others on the forum. That's all I can say really.
I had no use for this machine as I have no personal workshop anymore and infinite access to any AC DC set I want from work. That's why I got rid.. Not because I wanted to mug Darren off with something I knew couldn't be fixed.
Hope that clears things up a little.
I saw the original post and it was clear that it was sold as "spares or repair", as Darren said you take a chance and win some lose some...Just a note - I understand some are claiming I've "fiddled" Darren by claiming that I've never opened this machine.

You never know, it might yet liveI saw the original post and it was clear that it was sold as "spares or repair", as Darren said you take a chance and win some lose some...
here you go I'm sure this will workYou never know, it might yet live
I'm an eternal optimist - I'm sure it will! You never know, it might yet live
Massive plutonic manlove from here for that You and me mate, are from the same podI'm an eternal optimist - I'm sure it will!
And even if it doesn't you will still have gained something by the whole experience, so what's not to like? Stay positive
Now if that had been an Rtech you would have had it repaired and back tommorow. )Ducks the inevitable incoming) lolIt's hard to tell due to amount of damage but either the connector corroded and arced or the arc caused the connector to fry. There are quite a few very molten bits inside from it.
Given it's the main two boards that are gone (they count as two) I don't think a repair will be cost effective so it's probably going to be scavenged for bits.
C'est la vie though, if you don't have a shot you'll never hit it
Now let me see...
"eBay, for sale, one welder poss easy fix? spares? repairs?"
When I saw tyour first post about does it live I half expected for you to say it was a fuse...lolYou never know, it might yet live

Wasn't in the thread mate, was out of thread but all has been sorted now.Not my understanding. Who are you suggesting has claimed this?
He parted with some pocket money for what was potentially a piece of junk, but could have been a loose wire shoved back and then a good machine, and he knew what he was doing. So it wasn't a loose wire, the machine was a piece of junk. It happens.
Then there was some discussion which amounted to taking the **** out of certain sales on ebay.
So what?
