Best of luck with her mate, just think of how sweet the first run of AC weld will be after all the prep..Hope you get it sorted and at least you didn't have to spend days with a multimeter to find out what the problem was. Always a positive somewhere

Just a wild out the box thought, but if you have a proper circuit diagram with component values and there are no programmed chips in there, could you/we make our own copycat boards from off the shelf bits and bobs? I copied a guitar amp many moons ago with my fulfilled shopping list from Tandy, it looked like a bale of straw but did the job...plus I have bags of MOSFETS, resistors, capacitors and doodydaas looking for a job...

"Untested" is ebayese for "tested and known not to work".

"Bought as part of job lot from workshop clearout, I know nothing about them and can't try it".

"Has no leads and I don't know anything about them anyway, so I can't test it and it may well work, but it just wouldn't be honest to sell it as working. It could well be a bargain".

just like, 'its never broken down' and 'it doesnt have the usual problems'...

so many ways to con poor unsuspecting people...selling this tig as an easy repair would grab another member for the forum though when the 'newbie with project tig' thread is started

It might also make a very upset newbie when they realise that it's been discussed and condemned here in this thread .

Well, I just 'bought' a tig machine from a nice guy in Scotland. He said he never tested it but it should be an easy repair

He didn't lie. There was no way that was tested.
Easy fix !!! Well again not strictly a lie. As it could be easily fixed to do something, probably not weld mind but I could easily gut it, cut a slot in the top for me 2's and 1's. FIXED
