I use the Makita version but there are 3 things that looks better on the Bosch, locking/unlocking, blade change and spare blades in the handle .

On the Makita the unlocking slider for opening is the same as blade release.
Makes them a bit unsafe to open with a rapid wrist twist, you throw the blade away.
Folding back has a separate mechanism.

These are good with one reservation. I bought mine from Costco years ago as a "Nack" knife. I see Ryobi do a version and there's a Tim Allen branded one. Also known as a Rota knife.

Mine was metal bodied with a silver finish. Bought the old man one later (again from Costco) and it was black plastic and not so good. The front end opened up!

Only stopped using mine as I couldn't fine replacement blade cartridges.

I use the Jewel Blade fold up knives. They are (or were) under £4 each, and are one of the few Stanley style knives that fit snugly into my small hands. In fact I like them so much, I have 4 in my leather workshop, one at each workbench.

Unfortunately, they are made of plastic, and the blade holder is starting to get that bit of a wobble. Can’t complain too loudly, though, as I use them every day to cut up to 4+mm leather, and the oldest one is coming up for 3 years old.

Something else I don’t need but want. Thankfully I’m skint, turbos for the RR and a DPF for pickup cleans you out. Possibly due an upgrade, got a few. These are only ones I can find at the mo

Prefer the retractable but the folding do the job

Having to unfold a knife is a pita when it's used many times a day

It is actually quicker and easier I find.

Only downside is no blade storage but the amount of times the tool bits have come in handy makes up for it.

I love a good quality folding stanley knife. It makes the standard design redundant, especially if you're carrying it around.

My preferred one is the Milwaukee fastback utility knife, similar in function to the bosch. Solid metal construction, feels great to use.

Oh no I didn't think I wold ever have Stanley knife jealousy!
I still have a few of these I got from work many years ago when they changed to the "safety" type. They stop in certain drawers, should I buy a new one if the old ones still do their jobs - the folding ones do look nice though

If you think it could get any worse in your hands than mine then I am afraid you are wrong Mine gets covered in soudaflex, aluminium grinding dust etc etc

I also used to like these but I have decided I don't like the 'wheel' style blade release on the top of the knife. I find I accidentally release the blade too often if cutting something that's putting up a bit of a fight.

I try and go for the side button ones now and not had a problem.

I've got a milwaukee one bought it when I was on holiday in America when they first came out also bought some spare blades, I like the feel not too heavy not too light and feel very solid and best bit is I paid £5 instead of the £15 they go for in the UK
